SUMMARY OF WORK AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Since I was very young I have enjoyed serving others as it brings me a lot of happiness.
Later on I realized that serving others helps me to achieve personal growth as well. So I
decided to make a career out of my fondness to serve others by choosing to involve
myself in the hospitality trade.
I have come a long way since I started my career as a Third Commis at the age of 17.
Gaining a lot of experience through my apprentice years, I was rewardedon many
occasions for my hard work, including the occasion I was selected as the Best Employee
of the Month while I was working at Jeddah Marriot Hotel, KSA.
I achieved a milestone in my field when I started my job at Mount Lavinia Hotel, Sri
Lanka as Assistant Pastry Chef because it was my first experience of being in charge of
the work I do.
A great highlight in my career is becoming Pastry Chef for the first time in 1997 when I
started work at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mecca, KSA. Since then I have worked in the
same capacity in many places including Batteel Bakery in Doha Qatar.
With the aim of furthering my professional knowledge, skills and qualifications, I have
followed several coursesincluding Master’s Certificate for PME Professional Diploma.
I am fortunate to have achieved many accolades throughout my career. Among them are
the 2006 Award for Exceptional Service of VIPs at the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq,
2006 Certificate of Excellence, DFAC, Food Service Supervisor Tikrit, Iraq, 2004
Certificate of Excellence, DFAC, Kellog Brown & Root, Liberty Café Dining Facility in
Baghdad, Iraq and 1990 MEED Award for Best Jeddah Hotel while at Jeddah Marriot
Hotel.
My last appointment as Pastry Chef was at Apple A day Catering Service in Doha Qatar
where I spent an enjoyable year from August 2013 to June 2014, which also completed
my 24th year in this field. At the successful completion of my contract there, I feel now I
am ready to take up new challenges in my career.
