Summary
I am an experienced data warehouse professional that is a an analysis,
data, and database guru. I love data challenges and solving technical
problems for the customer, whether they are a data analyst or a Senior Vice-
President.
Professional Experience
Data Warehouse Data Quality Manager-GM, Arlington, TX ? August 2014 to
Present
. Led a team of Data Quality analysts (6) conducting Data Quality checks
and daily data verifications on the Data Warehouse for the financing
operations of GM Financial, the captive lender division for General
Motors.
. Audited the daily processes for potential improvements as well as
review of all the business definitions for daily verifications run on
the data warehouse. Led a transition from a previous ticketing system
to a new software ticketing system to interact with customers.
Principal Management and Information System Analyst-Capital One, Plano, TX
? October 2011 - August 2014
. Led a team of MIS analysts that did the intake and data analysis of
all database and data defects for Capital One Auto Finance Databases.
Chair of the defect priority meeting that met with business leaders to
gain business insight into defect criticality. Was personally
responsible for setting defect priority for the business. Worked with
code defect teams to provide resolution for all data defects and then
with business users to validate that all issues were resolved.
. Led a team of MIS analysts that did analysis of all data quality for
quarterly compliance checks on all Capital One Auto Finance databases.
Developed and implemented over 3000 analysis checks over
approximately 20 databases and external vendor data files. Was
accountable for analysis of all failed checks which were reported
quarterly to the Senior VP of IT.
. Primary resource for questions about Oracle, MS SQL and Teradata
Databases and reports. Performed deep dive into business intelligence
reports to understand if trends were real issues or the result of
database defects. Was requested by name to assist with Business
Intelligence Analysts to solve and identify key issues for audits by
the Federal Reserve.
. Taught Data Analysts the new data warehouse environment when it was
rolled out in 2012. Assisted data analysts to migrate scripts,
dashboards, and reports from the previous environment to the new data
warehouse environment. Performed User Acceptance Testing for data
warehouse, including verification of the tables containing all
transaction and balance information for the last 10 years.
. Primary resource for all user questions and issues regarding in
Capital One Auto Finance. Worked with multiple business divisions
including Legal, Marketing, Business Intelligence, Loan Servicing to
answer any and all questions pertaining to databases for Capital One
Auto Finance including SQL query assistance (along with ETL of source
to target), dashboard and report (including SAS) trouble shooting, and
database design questions.
. Used Excel and VBA to finalize user acceptance testing, read XML files
for data quality, perform quarterly data quality checks (remote
connection to a database, then execute embedded SQL) as well as
various ad-hoc side projects .
. Designated as group resource to learn and integrate Tableau into the
reporting tools available to the Data Steward Team.
Research Engineer-TriQuint Semiconductor, Richardson, TX ? August 2007 -
October 2011
. Filled the role of software development and data loading for all of
the Defense R&D groups test data. Took an existing code base of C
programs and Unix shell scripts that had no ability to track load
failures or errors to a 100% automated system with system and data
logs. In addition, self-taught PHP and SVG coding to solve a problem
that prevented data from being displayed correctly in Internet
Explorer (the only approved browser). Issue had existed for 3 years,
and problem was solved in under 2 weeks. Developed the entire
Extract, Transform and Load process to extract key figures of merit
for advanced semiconductor devices.
. Developed dashboards using Spotfire (now Tibco Spotfire) to display
user data from both flat files and company database.
. Undertook a rewrite of the C code and BASH shell scripts into LabView
software. When a proprietary solution for connecting LabView to
Oracle databases proved to be cost prohibitive, wrote LabView Modules
from scratch to perform the same function. Migration to LabView
incorporated 100% of the features of previous software.
. Analyzed 2 years worth of data trends on capacitors to propose a new
structure which predicted a 100% increase in device lifetime (or a
100% increase in operating voltage--actual lifetime testing was
prohibitive). Presented results as CSMANTECH conference paper.
. Introduce a paired t-test methodology to solve processing issues
during manufacture of complex devices to solve an issue where device
to device variation hid the step by step variance of processing steps.
. Utilized VBA/Excel to program and control an electrical device
characterization setup that took voltage curve measurements on a on
each of 100-300 locations on a 4 inch wafer.
Process Engineer - Texas Instruments, Dallas, TX ? January 2005 - August
2007
. Semiconductor Process Engineer responsible for metal process during
computer chip fabrication
. Analyzed process statistics using methods including SPC, DOE, ANOVA to
keep manufacturing processes in control and operating 24/7 as well as
match new equipment to existing process as well as assist in the
development on new processes.
Process Engineer - Seagate Technology, Bloomington, MN ? September 2003 -
July 2004
. Process Engineer responsible for the etch technology during MEMs
fabrication (Hard Drive read/write heads). Performed data analysis on
to determine proper endpoint detector settings for new manufacturing
processes as well as standard statistical process control for plasma
etch.
Senior Process Engineer - Intel, Hillsboro, OR ? November 2001 - September
2003
. Process research engineer for the manufacturing process that produced
the Pentium 4 and Pentium Prescott chips.
. Data analysis of new processes using standard statistical methods
including Design of Experiment, ANOVA, and statistical process
control. Data Analysis of new equipment to unsure statistical process
matching during equipment startup and install.
Graduate Assistant - Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI ? January
1998 - October 2001
. Built and programmed a probe to collect voltage measurements in Liquid
Helium. Using LabView, wrote a system that controlled magnets,
electronics, and data collection for a major research group at
Michigan State University. System was built to handle power
disruptions with complex fail-safe .
. Published research on magnetic devices that analyzed data collected
over 2 years on a new method of testing devices. Published in
Applied Physics Letters.
