Dear Hiring Manager:
I am writing to inquire about the position of. I graduated in May 2014 with
a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sustainability from Philadelphia
University, and have a special interest in pursuing a career in the field
of environmental-related health and safety management. I know that I would
be an ideal candidate for a position on your staff.
Throughout my four years at Philadelphia University, I have taken many
courses dedicated to sustainability and environmental issues. In addition
to my educational background, I have also held an internship and four
separate positions that have significantly increased my skills and
understanding of administrative and organizational management. For example,
while interning at The Food Trust in early 2012, I was involved in the
development of the organization's monthly newsletter. This newsletter was
sent out to school districts and partnered farms throughout the Mid-
Atlantic region. This experience gave me a very unique, first-person
understanding of the importance of market research and organizational
outreach, outside of the hypothetical environment of the classroom. At my
previous position with Philadelphia University, I conducted tours of the
campus for prospective students. As a University Ambassador, I played an
integral role in the advertisement and student recruitment of the
University. With a finite amount of time on campus tours, I regularly face
the challenge of portraying on-campus life, discussing academic standards,
and convincing the prospective students that PhilaU is the right fit for
them.
In addition to working 20-25 hours per week during my undergrad, I carried
a full-time course load at Philadelphia University and maintained a strong
academic record. During this time I have also contributed to a number of
environmental projects. These include the development of an environmental
day-program for children at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental
Education, as well as the creation of a do-it-yourself energy audit webinar
for use within the Environmental Sustainability curriculum at Philadelphia
University. These experiences, partnered with my educational background,
strong writing and interpersonal skills, and desire to become a valuable
member of an environmental-based team, have prepared me well for a career
in environmental administration and management.
I truly believe that my sustainability-based education, laced with socio-
economic principles, would give me a unique and fresh perspective that
would be an ideal fit for a position within your organization. It is with
great interest that I submit my resume for review and I would welcome the
opportunity to discuss my experiences in more detail during an interview. I
can be reached at 215-***-**** or *******@*****.***. Thank you for your
consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Aaron M. Brown
