2012 Q4 Values In Action Award Winner
Operational or Business Process Award: Given to Christopher Ferancy, EHS
Specialist and team in Cleveland. This group of individuals is directly
responsible for continuously improving the safety of the Cleveland Site by
addressing all of the items recommended by our property and risk insurer,
FM Global. Over the past 1-1/2 years, Chris Ferancy along with team members
have demonstrated a bias for action by aggressively implementing fixes and
procedures to reduce the probability of fires, flood damage, and other
property loss and dangerous situations. The final and largest project
involved changing the silicone mixing process from a plastic resin tote
arrangement to a much safer steel drum system. The plastic totes are prone
to rapid failure during a fire, whereas the steel drums are not. The
plumbing system and operational procedures required significant changes and
the design input and support from the mix technician team was instrumental
in a successful outcome. This final item has allowed the Cleveland Site to
achieve FM Global's "Highly Protected Status" designation.
2011 Q2 Values In Action Award Winner
Given to Chris Ferancy, Quality Technician and Mary Congelio, Quality
Coordinator at Cleveland for their caring, delivery on commitments,
continuous improvement, and bias for action in leading and tackling the
challenges of driving EH&S excellence at the site. The safety audit ratings
at the site have gone up during the past year or more with a commensurate
drop in the incident rate. These individuals were instrumental in not only
affecting the systematic changes required, but also driving the cultural
changes needed to make remarkable improvements in the effectiveness of the
site quality and operations. These improvements achieved a milestone with
the site being awarded ISO14001/OSHAS18001 certification.
