Dear Recruitment Coordinator,
It was exciting to find Casa Guadalupe WIC Center’s posting for Nutritionist, as I am confident that I
would be an excellent fit for the position. My qualifications position me well to effectively provide
nutrition counseling, education, and assessment to varied low-income populations. The following several
points highlight relevant experiences from my background:
Education and experience in health-related fields : I have two degrees from Penn State University: a B.S.
in Nutrition Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology. I have also earned the title of Dietetic Technician,
Registered (DTR). As a DTR, I have gained experience performing mathematical calculations in
nutrition-related problems.
Public Speaking and Communication: Through my numerous experiences teaching and giving
presentations, I have developed my ability to clearly articulate information. For instance, I developed
and taught nutrition classes for a health curriculum geared towards children. The lessons involved
explaining the benefits of whole foods over processed foods, a composting experiment, and a take-home
meal recording activity.
Multicultural Experience: At The Crane Academy in rural Kitale, Kenya, I developed lessons in a variety
of subjects with extremely limited resources and taught to classrooms full of eager students. I learned to
adapt as I encountered the idiosyncrasies of a very different culture. My varied experience has also
helped me to be comfortable in adapting from one situation to another as well as to relate well and
develop a rapport with a wide variety of people.
Documentation: As a result of my time working as a certified nursing assistant as well as through
shadowing a dietitian in a long-term care facility, I have gained skills in nutrition assessment, medical
terminology, anthropometric measurements, documenting with electronic medical records, taking vital
signs and patient monitoring, and privacy/HIPAA regulations.
Strong Computer Skills: I have many years of experience working with the Microsoft® Office Suite and
can easily navigate its programs.
My career objective is to contribute to this the betterment of communities through my expertise in and
passion for health and think that working as a Nutritionist with the Casa Guadalupe WIC Center would be
a wonderful way to further this goal. I welcome an opportunity to speak about my qualifications in
