Employment History
Research Assistant Winnipeg, MB
Department of Biological Sciences, University of Jan. 2009 - Feb.
Manitoba 2012
Responsibilities
Worked on impact of social and physical environment on
the stress response of juvenile Lake Sturgeons
(Acipenser fulvescens).
Quantitatively studied the catecholamines in juveniles
and impact of various social stressors on it.
Morphologically studied ultra-microscopic structure of
chromaffin and kidney tissues of pro-larval staged lake
sturgeons.
Manuscript writing.
Accomplishments
Found statistically significant higher catecholamine
concentrations in socially stressed as compared to
normal sturgeons.
Similarly, there was significant difference in
secondary stress parameters like glucose and osmolality
in socially stressed fishes.
Via electron microscope identified pheochromoblast
cells near neural tube of pro-larval staged sturgeons.
This finding is first of its kind in sturgeons.
Chromaffin like vesicles were identified related to
proximal tubule of kidney tissue in pro-larval lake
sturgeons.
Technical Environment
Statistical differences were made via student's t-test
and conducted via various softwares including GraphPad
Prism, Sigma Plot and Microsoft Excel.
