Station Manager Karratha Power Station

- Manager of the 86MW Karratha Power Station comprising; two GE LM6000
PD open cycle gas turbine generators and associated auxiliaries.
- Wholly responsible for all aspects of the Karratha Power Station
operation including managing; the Station P&L, the safety of all persons
on site, the customer contract relationship, the annual budget
preparation and control, operations, maintenance, strategic asset
management, and capital projects.
Major Achievements:
- Implemented a programme of reliability improvements and alarm
rationalisation and achieved a 50% reduction in annual staff overtime
costs, and an 0.5% improvement in Station availability.
Sep 06-Jun 10:
Manager Power Services
Ok Tedi Mining Ltd, Tabubil, Western Province, PNG.
- Asset Owner of all OTML electrical power generation, transmission and
distribution assets including; 2 hydro stations, 3 thermal stations (gas
turbine and diesel), standby generators, and 132kV and 11kV transmission
and distribution systems.
- Led the 100 strong, 97 PNG Nationals and two expats, Power Services
Team.
- Responsibilities: personnel safety and training; budget, operations,
maintenance, projects, and strategic asset management for all Power
Services Staff and Assets.
Major achievements:
- Procurement, installation and commissioning of: 6 Caterpillar, 1.5MW,
diesel generators, and Solar; T70, 5.0MW, and Mars, 10 MW, gas turbine
generators.
- Improved operating and maintenance standards, and Staff morale to
achieve a 75% (750 tonnes) annual reduction in lost opportunity metal
production (~USD1.8m).
