Senior Director position responsible for strategically directing,
developing and implementing comprehensive Total Reward programs that align
with university objectives while maintaining competitive positioning in the
market; leadership of 20 employees with an operating budget of $4.7
million; administration of benefits programs in excess of $60 million which
includes onsite wellness center operations and health coaching services.
Services provided include benefits, compensation, human resources service
center (payroll), human resources information systems (PeopleSoft), leave
administration, wellness, and work/life.
Accomplishments:
. Successfully avoided a 2015 health insurance cost increase by
redesigning and re-bidding the university's self-insured health plan
offerings in a manner that provided a choice of new health plan
options, including the introduction of a quality tiered network plan.
This work was completed without the erosion to benefits or cost
shifting. In addition, a 5-year guaranteed fixed costs savings of
$2.2 million was captured.
. Established a more robust health and wellness management program, in
collaboration with Marathon Health, the university's EAP and health
plan provider, which includes health risk assessments, biometrics
screenings, comprehensive health reviews, monthly wellness newsletter
and targeted wellness programming in an effort to reduce health plan
costs and improve the overall health of staff and faculty. Secured a
$100 thousand wellness budget from health vendor to fund wellness
programming for life of contract.
. Member of HR Leadership group responsible the development of a new
Tufts Shared Services (TSS) organization, including the creation of
job descriptions, salary market analysis, selection of incumbents and
candidates for new roles, build and testing of a new knowledge
management system (Salesforce), ongoing communications, change
management initiatives and transition of current HR Service Center
staff into new roles within TSS.
. Conducted an evaluation of current university compensation programs
and practices which resulted in an increase number of broad bands,
reduction of job families, process improvements for the development of
job description, building career ladders, conducting market analysis
and improved relationships with HR business partners.
. Developed enhanced leave of absence administration processes including
closer coordination between long term disability and worker's
compensation programs with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Risk
Management Office.
. Developed of a more comprehensive and streamlined HR budget and
expense control system for Human Resources leadership which resulted
in identify approximately $290 thousand of operational savings.

Service Center offices; management of 17 employees with an operating budget
of $4 million; administration of benefits programs in excess of $45
million. Services include negotiating and implementing competitive and cost
effective domestic, global and retiree benefit programs including health,
dental, vision, life, disability, retirement programs and ancillary
programs such as Best Doctors, Hyatt Legal Plans, Met Life Auto/Home, and
Care.com. Ensured continuous benefit plan competitiveness by monitoring
market position and conducting peer benchmarking. Conducted ongoing
evaluation of Health Care Reform impact and compliance requirements.
Accomplishments:
. Advanced the health and wellness strategy of the organization with a
focus on health plan cost reduction; created a communication strategy
to effectively promote new health and wellness initiatives; developed
a Health and Wellness Advisory Committee and new Senior Wellness
Manager role; successfully opened the first university Wellness Center
on the main campus for urgent care, management of chronic conditions
and personalized health coaching assistance and implemented on-site
health coaching services for the other locations.
. Created a new Well Time policy for all staff and faculty which allows
employees to voluntarily convert sick time hours to well time hours in
order to participate in a variety of wellness initiatives, including
ongoing health coaching. Participation in health and wellness
services/programs has increased by 13% since the introduction of the
Well Time policy.
. Conducted an evaluation of staff and service center practices
including payroll policies/procedures and accounting functions.
Designed an improvement plan and new strategy with a focus on improved
customer service levels, process controls and expanded relations with
the Finance division.
. Developed a Retirement Investment Advisory Committee (RIAC) to comply
with fiduciary responsibilities and close management of the retirement
plans. Developed a new retirement plan refresher training program for
all employees.
. Streamlined Fidelity and TIAA-CREF investment fund offerings from 300
to 23 funds all of which provide participants ease of selection, the
knowledge to make appropriate decisions and lower administrative fees.

programs and/or system improvements. Created system audit/compliance
protocols with internal/external auditors for the management of
