site assessments, Brownfield’s, industrial hygiene, and landfill gas management.

s torm water pollution prevention plans, spill prevention control and countermeasure

Secured grant funding for creation of the Region’s Recycling Education Vehicle
(REV). This replaced the Mobile Environmental Learning Center (MELC). The REV
is used to promote Recycling Education in the regions schools and at public events. I t
is a van with interactive touch screens, DVD player, Televisions and the necessary
components for computer integration. This is modeled after the Coca Cola
Corporation’s REV.
2009 to 2010
Environmental Programs Manager – Haywood County Solid Waste
Responsible for managing all aspects of environmental compliance, including air,
g roundwater, surface water, reporting, and permitting. Solid and Hazardous Waste
M anagement, Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics Recycling, and Recycling

Performed workplace safety t raining and incorporated a safety culture in daily
operations.
Managed daily Landfill operations increasing daily compaction by 131 pounds/cubic
yard saving the County $438,000.00 annually, closed the Construction and
Demolition Debris Landfill utilizing in house staff saving the County $450.000.00,
constructed a compost pad with in house staff, supervised the 5 million dollar new
l andfill cell construction project and acquired a 1 million dollar grant for the Frances
Farm Landfill gas to energy project.
2007 to 2009

M anaged Ti tle V Air Permitting requirements and compliance and analyzed the
Department’s carbon footprint and offsets from the landfill gas utilization project.

consisted of utilizing the ME LC in the schools and events and wri ting the Quarterly
Newsletter which was in the local newspaper.

Hazardous Waste Inspector – Buncombe County Emergency Management
Responsible for Haz-Mat Emergency Response, Hazardous Waste L icense, Permits
and Inspections for regulated businesses, provide technical assistance to Industry on
Chemical Handling, Storage, Waste M inimization and Disposal. Household
H azardous Waste Program, education in schools, coordinated t raining exercises for
community emergency response personnel (including police, fire, EMS, hospital…).
Several speaking engagements to community groups, and at professional
conferences. Investigate illegal disposal of hazardous waste and coordinate those
i nvestigations with SBI’s Environmental Crimes Unit and US EPA’s Criminal
I nvestigative Division when necessary.

Responsible for t roubleshooting and overseeing the operation of the Grade IV
Wastewater Treatment Plant (4MGD), Hazardous Waste Management and
M inimization for a Part B Permit ted Facility, Analytical tests and interpretation on
wastewater to advise on operations. Assisted Environmental Engineer in managing
environmental controls on Power Plant and Landfill. A member of the Emergency
Response Team.
