Directed the sourcing, procurement and materials management of the
Hartsville power plant
with a $31 million annual spend and approximately 300,000 line items.
Developed and lead a
team of 27 employees with direct oversight for buying, contract management,
customer
relationship management, expediting, scheduling, warehouse and logistic.
Leveraged a global pricing strategy incorporating four other H.B. Robinson
power plants in the Southeast region-that delivered $7-10 million savings
annually on materials purchasing (PO)
and $10+ million cost improvement in customer contracts-with suppliers in
countries around
the world including Germany, Japan, Turkey, Mexico and Brazil.
. Lead the planning, expediting and scheduling for all mission critical
projects during online and outage periods. Average 550+ concurrent
project work orders with significant timelines and windows of
opportunity relevant to successful outcomes.
. Coordinated with vendors/suppliers, inventory managers, warehousing
and department managers to ensure all materials were approved,
secured, tracked and available for on-time delivery. Anticipated hard-
to-find materials/items and maintained supplier list to support
obsolete parts that support the 37-year old facility.
. Part of the cross-functional team (warehousing and materials; risk
engineers; operations; chemistry; health and safety; etc.) to
envision, formulate strategy and execute an aggressive performance
improvement strategy that defined and implemented updated policy and
procedures, enhanced technologies, reduced manpower and streamlined
workflow process.
. Identified best practices across the four plant region (online and in
outage), and within the energy industry-and launched changes across
every functional area of Hartsville facility.
. Reduced staff in the materials group by nearly 50%; implemented EDI to
improve functionality with customers, and bar-coding to streamline the
issuing and receiving process.
. Results improved productivity adherence from 84% to 97% (internal
customer), improved customer/supplier relationships and satisfaction
from 81% to 98%; and improved OSHA and NRC compliance issues.
