9 ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
< BE Project title: "SOLAR AIR COOLER"
Summary:
To design and fabricate the cost effective, compact air cooler using
solar P.V Module. It converts the solar energy directly to the electrical
energy using P.V modules. This solar air cooler can be used effectively in
power loss conditions. It can also be used in far remote places where it is
very difficult to get the power connection. The power generated through
solar air cooler can be used for other purposes also.
< Mtech Project title: "Finite Element Analysis Of Residual Life of margin
hole Using Tapered Mandrel by CHE"
< Tools used: CATIA V5 R18, ANSYS Classic 14.5
Summary:
The demand for longer service lives in both military and civil
aircraft is often dominated by the limited fatigue performance of critical
airframe components. Cold working of fastener holes is one technique used
extensively in the aerospace industry to improve fatigue performance of
structures. The research work is concentrated on the development of three-
dimensional non-linear finite element analysis to evaluate the residual
stress field due to hole expansion. The contacts between the mandrel and
sleeve, and sleeve and hole have to be modelled using special contact
elements. The aim of this project is to find out the influence of edge
distance ratio (e/D) on the residual stress distribution around a cold
expanded hole in Aluminum 2024-T351 alloy and to estimate the fatigue life
of a flat plate loaded in tension. CHE process on aluminum alloy 2024-T351
was simulated using ANSYS 14.5 finite element package to evaluate the
development and growth of the plastic zone and residual stresses resulting
from the cold expansion of marginal hole with 2-6% of expansion at
different edge distances.
