ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Title: Analog Front End for EEG Signal Acquisition
May 2013 - May 2014
Team size: 4
> Objective was to acquire EEG signals which have a very low amplitude
range (100nv to 10mv) and exist at frequencies below 5 KHz.
> This system has a 128 channel analog multiplexer and an eighth order
low pass filter with a cut of frequency of 5 KHz, a stop band
attenuation of -105dB and a pass band gain of 35.56dB.
> Implemented it using cascaded Ackerberg - Mosseberg Bi-quad in
Virtuoso-Cadence 90nm technology.
> The entire filter possesses fully-differential architecture because of
its ability to effectively suppress power line interference and on-
chip noise.
Title: Accumulator Design
May 2013
Team size: 1
> The project consists of a digital network which adds up all the input
numbers provided. It finally displays the cumulative sum using 8-bits.
It has asynchronous reset capability.
> The circuit has a series of input and output D flip flops to receive
and store the input and output numbers. Full and Half adders perform
arithmetic operations and all of them are sized appropriately to
obtain minimum possible delay.
> Implemented the project in Virtuoso-Cadence 90 nm technology.
Title: Operational Amplifier
May 2013
Team size: 1
> The project consists of a single stage NMOS based differential
amplifier which is designed for a gain of 24dB.
> This circuit was biased with the help of voltage source initially.
But, later biasing techniques were employed for good swing and gain.
> Common mode feedback was also added to ensure the stability of the
circuit.
> Implemented the project in Virtuoso-Cadence 90 nm technology.
Title: Pattern Detector
December 2012
Team size: 2
> The objective of this project was to design a lock which works based
on the 8 bit number pattern stored in Port A of PIC16F877A in the form
of binary digits. Input bits entered into the working register are
compared with that of the bits of PORT A. The device remains locked
when the registers have different bits stored in them.
> PIC 16F877A micro controller, used for this purpose, was programmed
with the help of MPLAB software.
Title: Automatic Emergency Light
May 2011
Team size: 2
> This hardware project was done using basic electronic components which
include series of 120 LED's, Nickel Cadmium 2.5V/2Ah rechargeable
battery, transformer, BJT, resistors, diodes and capacitors.
> The battery gets charged with the help of 220 V main supply.
Transformer is used to step down the voltage according to the
requirement of the battery. The other components of the circuit are
necessary to avoid damage to LED's and Battery. Battery provides the
necessary power to switch on the LED network when the main power
supply goes off.
PAPER PRESENTATIONS
Title: Design of Analog Front-End for 128 Multi-Channel EEG Signal
Acquisition in 90nm Technology June 1, 2014
Place: IRAJ Research Forum, Bangalore
> The paper discusses about the design and implementation of a fully
differential analog front-end which pre processes the acquired EEG
signals before digitization. It consists of a 128 channel analog
multiplexer conjoined with a chebyshev eighth order low-pass filter.
The system exhibits a bandwidth of 5 KHz and a pass band gain of
35.56dB.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
> Programming Language: C, C++
> Software: Cadence, Pspice, MATLAB, MPLAB, Model Sim, Multisim, Proteus
> Operating System: Windows
