. Managing claims, confirming and documenting IPA's (Independent
Physician Association) authorization status as if it is approved,
pending, or denied, and stating the reason if it is denied.
. Key in data for authorization reports for information records, such as
patient information, authorization status, services, time of service,
and when is the authorization expired.
. Familiarize different categories of services in authorization, such as
inpatient, outpatient and office, durable medical equipment (DME)
rental or purchase, home health care or visit, skilled nursing
facility, and ambulance services, EZ CAP authorization module and
codes, authorization status definition, various service codes used in
authorizations, insurance types (Health Maintenance Organization,
Preferred Provider Organization, medi-care, medi-cal), and different
services with special groups, such as California children's services
(CCS).
. Acknowledge differences between full risk management and share risk
management.
. Work with IPA to manage patient's examinations, treatments, and
allocate patients to different facilities based on their conditions
and insurance. (OON, out of network/ in network)
. Participate in chart review process to determine if it is reasonable
to approve authorizations of patients based on medical records.
