• In criminal justice research I completed a project examining the relationship between
self-control and self-destructive behavior. My findings suggest that students with low
self-control are significantly more likely to engage in binge drinking and drinking and
driving.

• In my early childhood cognitive development class I wrote a paper evaluating the
performance of routine tasks by children using Piaget’s theory.

• In my white collar crime class I wrote a research paper analyzing the dependent and
independent factors that lead to counterfeiting.
• Experience adding and changing information in CourtView, a program used statewide by
probation and other social service offices.
• In my police and society class, I wrote a research paper analyzing how police officers
around the country treat and handle those who are mentally ill. My findings suggest that
more training for dealing with the mentally ill is needed throughout police departments
country wide.

officials.

juveniles.

• Made weekly visits to the Outlook building where I spend time with people of all ages
who have mental health issues. Their issues ranged from depression to schizophrenia.
• My responsibilities were to converse, play games, do crafts, talk walks, and participate in

even though they have these unfortunate mental issues.
