Managed three component plants with specific goals for conversion costs, logistics, safety, quality and
customer service.
• Assigned to synergy project team to evaluate consolidation of Sealy mfg plants, Tempur distribution centers.
Project team evaluated synergies and recommended action plans for next three years to achieve synergy
related cost savings of $20MM per year which included plant rationalization on Sealy side, Tempur DC
consolidation and establishing merge points to combine products to deliver to common customers using Sealy
fleet.
• Reduced Excess and Obsolete inventory. Reduced reserve amount by $600k thru inventory controls, selling
of raws and came up with new products to sell to secondary market using obsolete raw materials.
• Project team lead to evaluate and implement assembly of Tempur products in Sealy assembly plants. Project
savings of $2MM per year vs. existing outsourcing.

two union plants. Negotiated elimination of Incentive Pay and implemented hourly wage rates with introduction
of lean Mfg.
• Negotiated labor contracts with Steel Workers, Teamsters for 7 union plants including negotiations with three
unions, related to Portland Plant shutdown. Negotiated 40 labor contracts with zero work stoppage.
• Negotiated with unions to replace incentive wage system with flat hourly wage system for all the plants.
• Received TBM Perfect Engine Award for being the Lean Practitioner of the year.

• Instituted multi shift operation in the company for the first time which allowed rationalization of capacity in
Midwest. Operation grew from $30MM to $70MM sales in two years with net income of 12 to 15%.
• Improved cash flow by 10% thru labor and material efficiencies.
• Reduced inventory dollars by 50% and reduce days on hand from 40 to 24 thru discipline in cycle counts,
establishing Kanbans and tracking of top 4 SKUs.
