mixtures of plant pigments into the pure constituents or an analytical technique used for the separation of
compounds soluble in a particular solvent. This occurs at their stationary phases.
Quality Control of proteins- Samples are measured accurately after calibration of each device(s).
Bioprocessing/ Bioanalysis.
Characterization of proteins using FTIR.
Bioinformatics – Retrieving, organizing and analyzing biological data using R-Studio.

My role was to determine the photophysics and photochemistry of Rose Bengal bound to human serum albumin
using characterization, HPLC,UV spectrophotometer and ultrasound to mea sure the effects of dye molecules per
protein samples at low oxygen concentrations. The results showed reduced fluorescence yield for free singlet
oxygen formation from bound dyes.

North Carolina Central University
Dr. Dayami Lopez- Principal Investigator ( ******@****.***)
The goal of my research is to determine the role of T 3 and/or estrogen agonists in the cell proliferation and
viability of breast cancer cells. Using a tetrazolium -based colorimetric assay (MTT), I demonstrated that
triiodothyronine (T 3) reduced the viability of MDA-MB-231(triple negative breast cancer) cells but enhanced the
viability of T47D (triple positive breast cancer) cells. In addition, both estrogen receptor agonists
diarylpropionitrile (DPN) and propyl-pyrozole-triol (PPT) enhanced the proliferation of T47D cells but had little
to no effect on the viability of MDA-MB-231 cells (This research was conducted in BSL-2 environment).
Position was terminated due to graduation.

PARTNERS Training Program (Cancer research program)
This is a collaborative, 2-year program between UNC-CH Lineberger Cancer Center and North Carolina Central
University. Students carry our cancer-related research at Lineberger during the summers and additional re search
(10 hrs per week) during the academic year. In addition Partners students take special courses (Cancer Biology,
Epidemiology, Introduction to Public Health) to better understand the causes, cures, and prevention strategies for
cancers.
