TRIBUNE COMPANY – Chicago, Illinois 2010 – 2013
Director of Customer Accounting
Managed financial shared services in Chicago & governed BPO services in India and Costa Rica
which handled the Customer Accounting functions that included the billing, credit, collections,
contracts, customer service and accounts receivable for Tribune Publishing group with revenues
in excess of $1.1B.
Lead the transition team for Tribune Publishing Customer Accounting group to its new shared
service center (Blue Lynx Media) in Dallas, Texas. Provided key training and support for the
management team and staff.
Project manager for the transition of several business units into shared services, while optimizing
work load across centers to improve efficiencies and reduce transactional costs.
Business/Change management lead for the roll out of new ERP system.
Key Achievements:
Business lead for the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX account receivable
system for 8 business units in support of the customer accounting financial transactions.
Lead the on boarding and implantation of business unit functions into Tribune service
centers to ensure successful integration. Prepared & trained both sales & financial staff.
Automated credit adjustment processing which improved accuracy, timing, and
redundancies, while eliminating workload.
Senior Manager, Credit & Collections (Finance Service Center) 2008 – 2010
Managed a dedicated staff that supported credit and collection for all key accounts as well as
BPO operations for over 18K accounts. Responsible for the risk management & collections for
Tribune Publishing and Digital advertising in excess of $1.3B. Strategic leadership
responsibilities included evaluating and approving commercial account applications, managing
existing credit exposure, and collections management for 15 business units. Accountable for all
receivable performance including the reduction and stabilization of Days Sales Outstanding
(DSO), management of bad debt reserves, leading IT projects to automate processes, and provide
risk analysis/legal support for Tribune Company.
Key Achievements:
Reduced credit card fees by $1M+ annually by implementing software changes to
provide Level III processing data and direct connect application.
Developed policies and procedures documentation and performance metrics,
which included SOW (Statement of Work), SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and
Service Level Metrics (KPI) Key Performance Indicators.
Manager, Credit & Collections (Finance Service Center) 1995 – 2008
Responsible for the management of advertising accounts receivable in excess of $1.2 billion and
annual budget of $3 million. Maintain credit & collection operations for the FSC group, which
includes the Chicago Tribune, Sun Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel, Daily Press and Tribune
Interactive with a staff of 36. Managed the integration of the FSC advertising properties into a
production environment, while reducing costs and increasing efficiencies. Provided timely
communication with advertisers and business units throughout Tribune Company.

Spearheaded several key projects including Electronic tearsheets & invoices and
automated processing of credit cards.
Produced and maintained Top Tier DSO aged receivables for 10+ years, while providing
world class customer service.
