C itizenship: Permanent Resident (Green Card)

P rofile :

• I am an expert cell, molecular and i n vivo b iologist w ith over 10+ years of

hands-on experience in multiple fields, including i mmunology, neuroendocrinology and

epigenetics. H ighly motivated and ability to multitask, successful in establishing cell- and

q PCR-based assay development . E xcellent interpersonal and time management skills, team

p layer, outstanding writ ten and verbal communication.

P rofessional Experience & Education:

2009.11 present: Postdoctoral Fellow (Laboratory of Dr. Pamela L. Mellon )

Dept. of Reproductive Medicine, University of California at San Diego (La Jolla, CA)

T he overall focus of my current research is to investigate molecular and epigenetic

mechanisms involved in gonadotrope development, t hus elucidating the understanding of

reproduction and infertili ty.

• Di rected and managed separate projects to elucidate gene regulation and function of

several homeodomain t ranscription factors i n gonadotrope development using cell-based

f unctional assays, qPCR-based assays, i n vitro b inding assays, and i n vivo t ransgenic

m ice.

• Cha racterized epigenetic modulation d uring gonadotrope development, including

h istone modification and DNA methylation using ChIP-qPCR assays.

• Established b iotinylated BLRP-tagged system for genome-wide location analysis.

• Awarded a 2-year N I H Individual Postdoctoral grant in Neuroendocrinology on the first

submission.

• Mentored M aster student for individual research and disseration (UCSD BS/MS

p rogram).

• T rained u ndergraduate students for individual research (UCSD BISP 199 program).

2001.8 2006.11: P h. D in I mmunology (Laboratory of Dr. Zuoming Sun )

Dept. of Microbiology & Immunology, University of I l linois at Chicago (Chicago, I L)

T he focus of my thesis was to i nvestigate the signaling pathways/molecular mechanism

i nvolved in CD4+CD8+ double-positive (DP) t hymocyte survival and peripheral T cell repertoire .

• Developed and utilized m ulti-color f low cytometry and T cell sorting to measure T cell

development, apoptosis/survival and cell cycle phases.

Huimin Xie---Scientist

• Elucidated f unctions of (1) RORγ t, and (2) β-catenin/TCF-1 during thymocyte

development, both i n vitro and i n vivo.

• I ndependently identified t he function and link between β-catenin/ TCF-1 and RORγt

pathways in the regulation of thymocyte survival using microarray, cell-based assays and

i n vivo studies.

• Supported g roup members in multiple research projects, including activation-induced

cell death of T cells and t ranscriptional regulation of CD4 expression by β-catenin /TCF-1.

• T rained u ndergraduates as research assistants.
