2. Summer Internship for six weeks at Cairn Energy India Ltd-
Successfully completed a project titled “Re-view of Performance
of
Screened Production Wells in Mangala Oil Field ” during 6
weeks
Internship at Cairn India Ltd (May-June, 2011). The project
included
detailed studies of the following:
• Various type of Screens installed in oil producer of Mangala
wells
• Cause for low PI and Non-Performance of screened wells
• Techniques used for Well Stimulation for PI restoration with
detailed work and focus on ORCA – An in-situ acid
generating component used to dissolve mud cake.
• Suggested various other alternatives which can be used for
production restoration. Studied various case histories in
other fields and suggested following options to be used:
Pulse Jetting tool and using Nanotech particles for fines
migration prevention.
• The internship incorporated a three weeks field exposure at
Cairn Energy India field site (Mangala field) where had an
overview of various well intervention and completion
activities.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Aug’12-Present
Production Engineer responsible for production logging and well
integrity data interpretation acquired in various fields across India
and abroad. Major responsibilities include data interpretation and
analysis of cased- hole logging, managing, focal point for various
Major Indian and International clients, Job planning and forecasting
with clients and field managers, mentoring Junior petroleum
engineers.
Delivery of the final interpretation results along with the report
thereby
discussing the entire logging job interpretation with the client
through a
presentation.
Production Engineer at Schlumberger Asia
Services Ltd.
Responsibilities:-
1. Working in Production Engineering domain, includes:-
Production Logging
Formation evaluation
Well integrity (Cement Evaluation)
Casing condition monitoring
2. Supporting PTEs, Operations Engineers & Specialists for
Wireline Segment.
3. Job description includes:
Job planning with clients and supporting segment both offshore
and onshore.
Job execution by Real time monitoring of critical or high priority
jobs.
Processing and Interpretation of wireline log data
4. Suggesting the customers the well surveillance: identifying and
carrying out production improvement opportunities on wells.
5. Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve
production
through Optimization and stimulation of wells. Monitoring the
well
performance pre and post well intervention.
6. Nodal Analysis, Sensitivity Analysis & Artificial lift optimization for
Production Enhancement.
7. Currently working as the focal point –Production Engineer

8. The detailed job description and responsibilities are as
mentioned
below:
Production Logging:
Job Planning, Processing and Interpretation for Production
logging tool and Flow scan imager (FSI) to identify the water
entry source, crossflow zones, flow behind the casing and
monitoring the changes in the well behavior with time using
Emeraude software.
On the basis of Production logging results and Single well
Production Optimization is carried out using PIPESIM
software and Production Log Advisor software.
Also on the basis of the interpretation results workover job
planning is carried out to meet the client’s objectives.
Regular monitoring of wells behavior follow-up is done to
identify the opportunities of production logging and identify
short/long term production enhancement prospects.
Also undergoing a multiwall integrated study of different
wells in the field and co-relating the behavior of the wells
thereby understanding the field response.
Formation Evaluation:
Formation evaluation including saturation evaluation,
Lithology and porosity estimation behind the tubing.
It includes Job Planning; Processing and interpretation of
Reservoir saturation tool (RST) acquired data using
GeoFrame software.
Injection well Sweep efficiency evaluation using time lapse
RST saturation results behind the tubing, in a cased hole
environment.
Oil saturation evaluation is carried out in different zones, is
reported to the client and accordingly well intervention such
as perforation operation on the basis of RST results is
carried out to enhance the well productivity.
Interpretation of leak detection in tubing and casing using
Water Flow Logging (WFL) module of RST using emeraude
software
Interpretation of delineating Gas bearing zones and fluid
contacts as a part of Cased Hole formation evaluation.
Well Integrity:
Interpretation of cement evaluation log, thereby
evaluating cement bond, channeling, Bond Index,
Microannulus identification, missing cement identification,
cement to casing bond, cement to formation bond thereby
giving an idea of the hydraulic isolation.
The cement evaluation logs include Cement Bond Log
(CBL), Variable density Log (VDL), Ultrasonic Imaging log
(USIT) interpretation. Including the advanced well integrity tools
interpretation.
Scope of work includes log quality check, interpretation and
compiling an interpretation report highlighting the cement quality
throughout the logging interval.
Application and interpretation of cement bond logs has
resulted in numerous workover jobs to repair the cement.
Casing Condition Monitoring:
Multifinger Imaging tool raw data processing and interpretation
to identify the internal and external casing condition for casing
corrosion evaluation. It also includes the casing radius and
thickness measurements to identify casing damage. Moreover
dual casing condition can also be evaluated using the
combination of various well integrity tools.
9. To support the clients not only in the currently located area but
also internationally in different Geo-Markets including Iraq, Abu
Dhabi, Kuwait, Argentina, Gabbon etc. and to expand HUB
Production support activities through establishing positive
mindsets for the clients as a powerful in-hand resource of
expertise, for fulfilling their projects and their expectations.
10. Frequent visits to the clients for discussing the present and
upcoming opportunities for Production domain.
11. Taking responsibility to train young graduate petroleum
engineering and mentor them to becoming professional cased hole
production engineers.

associated uncertainties, experimenting with different
correlations to understand its importance.
• Understanding how global regression can be used to
impose reality by eliminating pseudo separator effects on the
flow profile and zonal inflow contributions.
• On a multirate PLT creating a SIP plot and to
understand the meaning of the layer pressures and Pis
created.
Nodal Analysis, Production Log Advisor &
Transient Analysis
• Understand the Reservoir-pressure-production-
injection behavior of multilayer completion reservoir by using
Nodal Analysis with Pipesim*.
• Understand the production behavior of multilayer
reservoir and the effect of isolating a water and or gas zone.
• Proficiency with PLA and the user interface to build a
PIPESIM model from production log interpretation results.

output for casing condition evaluation.
• Interpretation of various multi finger tool data to identify the
corrosion, pitting, metal loss and casing condition that will help
the client to take the required decision to maintain the well

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE
Hands-on working experience in the following software’s:
EMERAUDE: EMERAUDE is the industry standard
software platform for production log shared between all major
service companies and most operating companies. It offers a
choice of zoned and continuous processing, with a two-step
global regression that matches the log data at all points. The
handling of multi-probe tools (MPT), such as Schlumberger FSI
and Sondex MAPS, produces an open, streamlined workflow
with an unparalleled range of tools for displaying, editing and
handling data. Additional options include multi-rate PL and SIP,
water saturation (PNL) monitoring, permeability correction and
formation test QA/QC.
PIPESIM: PIPESIM is a multiphase flow simulator used for
the design and diagnostic analysis of oil and gas production
systems and models multiphase flow from the reservoir to the
separator. The ability to accurately simulate a broad range of
scenarios and conditions has established PIPESIM software as
the industry leading flow simulation tool in production system
design. It provides a comprehensive set of workflows from well
candidate selection for workover, to the identification and
mitigation of flow assurance challenges, to online optimization of
the complete system.
ECRINE: It is an integrated platform for dynamic data
processing. It offers a comprehensive range of interactive
QA/QC tools including trends, tidal correction, gradient analysis
and the possibility to compare various gauges to detect sensor
drifts and wellbore effects. It also offers a comprehensive built-in
analytical catalog combining built-in well, reservoir and
boundary models, complemented by external models.
GEOFRAME: The GEOFRAME is an integrated
reservoir characterization system provides process control,
data management, graphics and interpretation utilities
across multiple disciplines (geology, geophysics and
petrophysics) for a broad range of applications.
OFM: OFM provides an integrated environment to
accomplish complex workflows, forecasting analysis and
visualization of reservoir and production data. OFM also
enables early detection of production problems and their
cause. It helps to View, relate, and analyze reservoir and
production data with comprehensive tools including
interactive base maps with production trends, bubble plots,
diagnostic plots, decline curve analysis, and type curve
analysis.
IN-SITU PRO: is stand-alone PC software to
provide the capabilities of pretest, real-time pressure
monitoring and QC and pressure post job interpretation.
WELL BUILDER: Well Builder is Schlumberger
software for make completion designs. Have used the tool to
combine completion design, equipment selection and
validation.
PLATO: Plato is production logging analysis,
interpretation and processing software.
TECHLOG: It is an interactive platform for data
analysis, interpretation and logging data processing for
various modules of geology, petrophysics, drilling, well
integrity etc.
FIELD EXPERIENCE
Have adequate field exposure to have basic
understanding of well intervention (E-line / Slickline / Coil
Tubing) operations.
Have good understanding of well completion, artificial
lift & stimulation techniques used in the industry.
