Dear Sir / Madam,

With this letter I would like to explain my motivation for employment at your company and apply for

practical training.

I graduated as an international city and guilds chef’s diploma Level 3 from the Northlink Panorama

Campus, Cape Town in June 2013 where I obtained an international diploma.

After my graduation from High School, I was working as an intern for the campus restaurant Encor é

Panorama since January 2010 until June 2013, where I was exposed to the practical part of 5 star

culinary arts. The internship gave me the opportunity to understand more about the culinary industry.

After this time, I was fascinated by becoming a renowned chef and its daily challenges. My decision to

study a chef’s diploma was confirmed.

After graduation in June 2013, I started another internship at a 4 star hotel in Cape Town as a chef de

partie for a few weeks.

My duties included:

Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within their speciality;

Managing and training any demi chef de parties or commis chef working with me;

Helping the sous chef and the head chef to develop new dishes and menus;

Ensuring the team have high standard of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and

safety ;

Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins;

The opportunity to work with several customers, confirmed my decision to work abroad. As I am very

interested in other countries, people and the way they enjoy food, I am very curious to work overseas

and learn more about foreigners and their different cultures. It is very important to improve my own

personal skills and work experience abroad.

Due to my work experience in a few different companies and employment with different personalities, I

can offer my extended language skills, profound organisation skills as well as my ability to get easily

used to new projects to my future employee. Furthermore, I am highly motivated to work in another

country and learn another language as I am ambitious to learn more every day. Additionally, I learnt

the values of teamwork and commitment as well as working hard and focusing on given goals. My
