community outreach workshops targeted to provide psycho-education, prevention
services, community resources, and referrals to diverse populations under the
Multicultural Outreach (MCO) division on NAMI
Responsibilities: Develop curriculum and co-facilitate workshops for grant-funded
projects, conducted in residential housing communities, that provide psycho-
education, skills training, case management services, & community resources to
building residents, all of whom have some form of disability, to control the excessive
substance use, hypersexual behaviors, poor interpersonal relations, violence,
financial struggles, health problems, etc.
Responsibilities: Acted as a facilitator for this Cleveland Clinic, government grant-
funded research project designed to provide 4 four-hour psycho-education, skills
training, & community resources to families with children with Epilepsy; Facilitated
2 rounds of this research project

Responsibilities: Development and Implementation of this workshop series for
McNair Scholars at the University of Maryland-College Park.
Winter 2003- Contributing Founder of the Campus Organization, “Parents In College”
(PIC)
Purpose: Support Group for college parents that provides a supportive atmosphere, a
forum at which to discuss parental concerns, parental education, informational
workshops for traditional students and community members, activities for children
and families, connections to other college parents, and avenues to get involved with
community service activities, among many other things.
Responsibilities: Collaborated with a colleague to develop the rationale for the need
of this type of organization and provided active support in the development and
maintenance of this organization, such as assisting in the development of a mission
statement, by-laws, and guidelines.
Fall 2003- Individual Counselor Position Aimed at Students of Color
Collaboration between the Center for Multicultural Research, Training, and
Consultation and the Office of Academic Retention Services.
Responsibilities: Created, developed a formal proposal for, and presented to the
change agents in that organizational system, my ideas around the need for a
counselor to be more easily accessible to students of color on campus, by being
located in an office designed to meet their needs. Held this position for one full
academic year, under a voluntary basis, in order for the position to evaluate for its
utility and effectiveness. Provided a mid-year and end-of-the year report to the
director around the accomplishments of the position.

trends within families of color, information about the developmental
stages/milestones of children, how to detect if their child is not developing
traditionally, how to parent children with mental health disorders & developmental
disabilities, the risks related to parenting children with mental health disorders &
developmental disabilities,, non-traditional parenting strategies that may prove to be
more applicable with families of color, and a safe space to discuss, explore, and gain
support regarding their parenting experience
Sum 2010 Effective Ways to Manage Your ADHD, Minority Behavioral Health

Mission: To provide children and adolescents the opportunity to gain psycho-
education about ADHD, its general impacts of functioning, performance, and
behavior, and specific ways that their ADHD impacts them. The children also
learned and practiced effective ADHD management strategies. Participants and their
parents received packets that included psycho-education, management strategies, and
all activities completed by the child while in the group.
