Objective
As an employee at your entertainment website, I hope to gain the experience and connections necessary to take the next step towards my dream of becoming a successful screenwriter. By performing the tasks requested of a movie critic, I will be able to familiarize myself with both the people and assignments associated with the business of writing professionally. This extends into the other forms of writing I have experience in and wish to further explore (for example, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction writing).
Experience
Unpaid Internship at ForeverDope.com Spring 2012
Foreverdope.com was a website dedicated to college students all over the nation that featured various columns about topics such as sports, fashion, music, and general lifestyle. I managed and wrote one of these columns (the College CompLEX) and dedicated it to all facets of college living. The column was entirely under my control so long as I grabbed the attention of readers.
Work Experiences
Server (Brick House Tavern + Tap - Neptune, NJ) September 2014 - Currently Employed
I currently work at the Brick House, a restaurant and sports bar. I greatly enjoy working here; the atmosphere is fast-paced and energized and the people are always ready to have a good time. I like to think of myself as a social butterfly and my outgoing personality definitely has contributed to my success here. This job has taught me the value of staying on-my-game, so to speak, in the sense of knowing the information that’s expected of me (i.e. the menu, drink list, beer list, etc.). I quickly learned that not being prepared for questions often led to mistakes.
Server (Olive Garden - Freehold, NJ) May - August 2013 732-***-****
Though financially rewarding, waitressing also provided me with interpersonal skills I did not have before, specifically: patience. At the Olive Garden, I found the clientele to be fairly difficult to serve and after just a few weeks, maintaining a calm, focused demeanor on the job became instinctual.
Executive Secretary (Jets.com – Red Bank, NJ) May – August 2012 732-***-****
Jets.com is a private charter company that finds jets for individuals looking to fly privately. As an executive secretary, I was directly responsible the paperwork concerning flights, itineraries, transportation, catering, etc. I talked on the phone constantly with all the companies associated with making the details of the trip happen. Likewise, I became familiar with Microsoft Outlook, as this was the apparatus the entire company used to communicate.
Hostess and Manager (Ristorante Giorgia – Rumson, NJ) May – August 2011 732-***-****
I worked at this small restaurant on the weekends and answered the phone as a hostess. As the summer got busier, I was promoted and helped out all the staff. I ran food when it got hectic, opened the diners’ wines and champagnes, managed the floor plan, and took orders.
Hostess (McLoone’s Pier House – Long Branch, NJ) May – August 2011 732-***-****
As a hostess, I answered the phone, made reservations and answered questions, as well as sat the customers when they arrived. On busy nights, I was responsible for keeping customers that were waiting calm and content; I also had to manage a floor-plan for the entire restaurant which sat up to 400 people.
Camp Counselor (Colts Neck Department of Recreation and Parks) Summer of 2008 & 2009 732-***-****
As a camp counselor, I had complete and total responsibilities for the 4th grade girls in my group. I had to plan field trips and other activities for the campers that were both fun and safe.
.
Receptionist (Unique Hair Studio – Sayreville, NJ) Summer 2007 732-***-****
I took appointments down in the book and worked the cashier. I gained experience in talking to customers both over the phone and in person. At the time I was young (around 15), and this job taught me a good deal about time management.
Leadership Experience
THON Committee (Fall 2011 – Spring 2012)
Being a part of THON OPPertations was a life changing and exceptional opportunity to make a difference and raise money for pediatric cancer.THON is a student run philanthropy at Penn State consisting of a 46 hour dance marathon designed to raise money for pediatric cancer. It is a year round effort, involving shaking cans on the side of the road to raise awareness and funds. As a member of the OPPerations branch of THON, I helped setup and tear down the actual dance marathon.
Penn State Equestrian Team (Spring 2012)
Playing a sport at the college level was both challenging and a great deal of responsibility. I thoroughly enjoyed practicing and competing as part of the team, as well as being around the animals I love.

I successfully completed the cognitive and skills evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) program. This means I am authorized to perform the Heimlich, CPR, and use a defibrillator if needed in an emergency situation.
Secretarial Skills
I’ve had several jobs in which I as a secretary or assistant. This has left me extremely capable of handling business over the phone and through the computer. I am exceptionally organized and can manage time efficiently due to this experience with filing/scheduling/planning.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Outlook
Working for a website has left me highly capable of working specific programs tailored to certain needs (i.e. basic software used in various offices).
Internet research skills were often necessary when pursuing a story or information for the column. I often had to research authors and various pieces of writing throughout my college career as well.
All basic Microsoft programs
I have extensive hands-on experience with Macbooks and Apple Software
Language Skills
I can read Spanish and Italian pretty sufficiently. Conversational Italian and Spanish are also familiar to me, though Italian much more so, due to my semester in Milan. Both of my parents are Italian immigrants so both languages are consistently spoken in my household.
Interpersonal Skills
Having studied psychology in my undergraduate career, I’d like to think my interpersonal skills are above average. I like to think of myself as a rational person and always strive to hear both sides of confrontation as well as opinion. My knowledge of human behavior and emotion effectively pairs with my outgoing personality, making me very capable socially.
