Mellow Mushroom Johnson City – 2929 North Roan Street Johnson City, Tn. 37601
02/2010 to 06/2011
At Mellow Mushroom Johnson City I was responsible for finding and securing the Mellow
Mushroom Franchise and negotiating with the parent corporation to obtain franchise rights for
both the Johnson City Tennessee and Bristol Virginia markets/locations. I was in charge of
locating, negotiating and purchasing the property for the restaurants. I was in charge of securing
financing for the business and properties. I was in charge of oversight for the demolition and
construction of the restaurants. I assisted in design, construction management, staffing and
operation of the business until I sold the company and real estate in 2012. When we opened our
first store in Johnson City our Mellow Mushroom broke the sales record for the entire Mellow
Mushroom Company for both, day, week and month.
I invested in these restaurants with two other partners whom I sold my share of the business to
for a considerable profit. The businesses are still alive and well today. The Mellow Mushroom of
Johnson City and The Mellow Mushroom of Bristol did not exist in the Tri Cities area before we
brought them to the area. They are a vibrant part of the landscape of both communities today.

company which was later sold to Universal Music. As a writer I collaborated with other writers
and artists writing songs for publishing. I had several songs recorded by Bluegrass and Country
Music artists. I was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000 for my part of Larry Cordle and

Executive Producer
Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited – 416 State Street Bristol Tn. 3 7620
06/2012 to Current
I am the Executive Producer of "Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited". This project
began as an original idea I had in the summer of 2012. The project is a CD based on the original
1927 Bristol Sessions recorded by Ralph Peer for The Victor Talking Machine Company. The
sessions recorded by Mr. Peer are considered by many to be the beginning of Country Music
recordings.
I took the idea to The Birthplace of Country Music in Bristol Tn. a Smithsonian affiliated museum.
I began working with the museum and presented the idea to both The State of Tennessee and The
Commonwealth of Virginia who mutually agreed to fully fund the project.
The project includes Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon
Rangers, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart and several other emerging artists.
As Executive Producer for "The Orthophonic Joy" I am in charge of securing talent, meeting and
maintaining a budget for both, The State of Tennessee, The Commonwealth of Virginia and The
Birthplace of Country Music in relation to this project. I am in charge of artist releases, contract
negotiations with record labels, point distribution and negotiation. Rolling Stone Magazine
described me as a "Mastermind" in the following article from June 11, 2014
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/country -music-pioneers-honored-on-new-compilation-
album-20140611
The CD will be distributed by one of the largest international record labels and is set for release 2014.
