Industrial capital equipment environment, in a multi discipline range of areas from top to
bottom from lead management, sales, design, manufacturing and commissioning.
My experiences have afforded me to travel extensively throughout the world to make me
a more rounded individual that can communicate effectively in very difficult situations.
I have the ability and experience to lead and mentor at all levels of an organization due to
my strong personality and humble beginnings.
Due to my technical background and education my troubleshooting techniques are highly

Primary function is the sales and marketing of capital equipment with a typical contract
value ranging from $500,000 to $20m, reporting to Germany and Italy
Following Long Product Rolling Mill activities in North America and worldwide on special
cases.
Preparation of proposals for all types of long product rolling mill equipment. The proposal
requirements leads to involvement from a companywide departments aspects of which
are collated into the final proposal and presented to the customer.
Analysis of customer RFQs, both technical and commercial. My extensive industry
knowledge, including manufacturing, installation and commissioning of equipment was
used to evaluate the customer requirements and ensure that the information is
disseminated to the different departments in a clear and concise fashion, hence
eliminating rework and improving customer response time.
I led an initiative to introduce standardization worldwide for the Bar and Wire Rod mill
equipment This required total immersion in the technical detail for all equipment and
ended with the result of having standard equipment selection tools with in the sales
department to then percolate through the organization to reduce contract execution costs
and thus increase competitiveness.
Support Engineering and Sales department in Germany and Italy for the introduction of
new equipment and technical issues.

Developed, through standardization, work flow improvements for contract execution by
reducing engineering hours from 2000hrs to 250hrs per contract.
Awarded Patent for a new style of rolling mill using a modular design stand configuration.

1996 - 1999 Design Engineer (High Speed Rolling Mill
Equipment)
Design, installation and commissioning of rolling mill equipment. Areas of specialization
include
Process and high-speed equipment design using CADRA, AutoCad, Solidworks, Excel
and VAX/VMS packages, specializing in the design and development of high-speed rod
sizing mills.
Extensive troubleshooting on site and commissioning in Asia and North and South
America. This has included working alone and with teams in plants in Canada, USA,
Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China
Customer training in both theoretical and practical aspects of the high speed rolling mill
equipment function and maintenance. As part of this position we held training classes for
around 20 engineers at a time from the customer, I led training sessions to identify the
key points of the Morgan high speed equipment and to develop a fundamental
understanding of the operational aspects of the equipment across a full spectrum of
disciplines, including maintenance and operational staff and management. This required
clear and concise communication, plus technical competence.
Developed new standard large gearbox with clutch ratio’s to enable single family rolling
for the Reducing Sizing Mill (RSM) .

After the closure of the gear section at Davy a small group of
engineers moved to David Brown to carry on supporting the Steel
Sector the specific duties were comparable to the duties performed at
Davy.
Other duties included
Conceptual design, design calculations and detailed engineering of gear boxes and
drive systems for windmills / marine and mining sectors.

This position was in a critical department to provide the reliability
with in the design of the equipment.
A very detailed approach was taken because each gearbox was designed
specific for the duty cycles of the various hot strip mills.
Specific duties included
Conceptual design, design calculations and detailed engineering of gear boxes and
drive systems for hot strip rolling mill equipment, and site installation and commissioning.

Successful design of large equipment gearboxes, modifications and redesign of
problematic equipment on hot strip mills.
