Dear Hiring Manager,
I am recently retired from the Air Force and am extremely interested in utilizing my extensive experience in my
transition to the commercial workforce. I am applying for the Phlebotomist position at Dyess AFB, TX.
As you will see in my attached resume, I have garnered extensive experience and knowledge directly relating to this
position. I have attended the U.S. Army’s Combat Lifesaver Course 4 times and have training and experience
performing venipunctures and establishing saline locks. I was also a U.S. Air Force Self-Aid and Buddy Care
Instructor for 15 years. I am currently working at the Dyess AFB Clinic (contract ends 31 Dec 2014) and am familiar
with the staff and policies. I am Basic Life Support (BLS) Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) until Nov 2014,
as well as, HIPPA and TeamSTEPPS trained. I have consulted with the local Lab staff and, if hired, with some On-
The-Job Training should be able to obtain my American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification in short order. I
firmly believe my abilities will be valuable to your company.
I feel I am an excellent candidate for this position as a Phlebotomist. I hope to hear from you in the near future for and
interview or to discuss opportunities. Thanks you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jake W. Powell
