Total responsibility for two production facilities, which employed 400
employees. Both facilities were full corrugated plants, and my job was to
bring them up to speed and up to production capabilities. I worked with
sales, customer service and customers to re-align plants to current and
acceptable production and waste levels. I worked to instill work ethics
and implement the appropriate maintenance and production levels to
bring them into the 21st Century.
Corrugator Supervisor
8/2005-9/2009 International Paper Ft. Wayne Indiana
Took on the position of Second Shift Corrugating Supervisor. Shift was in
trouble and my job was to fix the problems. I retrained and helped with
maintenance issues that were preventing both the shift and plant from
becomi ng more efficient. Increased machine uptime to 90%+ and
decreased waste
by some 2% (overall) for the plant. Retrained and set up second shift
schedules
for maintenance across the plant.

Plant Manager
9/1991 - 11/1997 Champion Container, Tempe Arizona,
Plant Manager of a small sheet plant which produced Triple-Wall and Quad-
Wall bulk bins and totes. Plant had 25 employees and 3 supervisors. My
responsibilities included every aspect of management and sales, from the
day to day running and training of crews and supervisors, to setting
production goals, layout and design of the orders and working with the sales
force and sales service group. Set up pay scales for staff and worked with
suppliers and interfaced with OSHA.
Plant Superintendent
8/1982 - 9/1991 Southern Container, Hauppauge Long Island,
Plant was a Union Facility with 80 hourly and 7 management staff, plus five
sales support personnel. Responsibilities started with getting plant back on
track. Plant had approximately 1 million sq. ft. of bad board on the fioor when
I started. I redesigned corrugator procedures and formulas, production
scheduling, and preventative maintenance programs. Once corrugator was
producing quality board, I revamped and rescheduled processes and
procedures, acquired new ink suppliers and trained operators, assistants
and supervisors. I worked with customers to solve problems, and worked
with both the sales force and customer service to redesign a more efficient
and better rounded facility.
Multiple positions
4/1969 - 8/1982 Tri-Wall Containers, Butler, Indiana
Began as an hourly employee working for my father, learning each position in
the facility, from catching off the corrugator to operating the single facers
around the rest of the corrugator, to setting up presses to running stitchers, to
driving fork trucks and clamp trucks.
In 1972, Iwas promoted to Sample/Design maker and learned to design
cartons and work with salesmen and customers to design the best box we
could.
In 1975, Iwas promoted to Shipping/Corrugator Supervisor. My
responsibilities were the running of the corrugator, training the crew and
taking care of the shipping end of the plant, which involved scheduling and
cubing the trailers out for maximum
efficiency.
In 1976, Iwas promoted again to full time first shift Co1TUgator Supervisor.
My responsibilities included both shifts of a two shift operation with 28 hourly
employees and 1 supervisor: I helped with scheduling, and also worked with
maintenance to upgrade and repair machinery.
In 1979, I was promoted to acting Plant Supertntendent of a new facility to be
built in Mexico. Responsibilities were everything from ground up - from design
and building of the new plant, to installation of machinery, to hirtng training of
employees and sales service and heading up business development.
