General Information

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and at the age of six I immigrated overseas with my

family. I moved to Paradise Island, Bahamas and following this I lived in Florida and Maryland,

USA as well as Dubai, UAE. Upon moving back to South Africa at the age of 16, I completed

my IGCSEs, AS-Level and A-Level qualifications within the Cambridge International System.

Upon completion of my secondary education, I went on to study a four-year theoretical and

practical degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at the University of the

Witwatersrand, South Africa; where I qualified with a Bachelors degree in Speech and Hearing

Therapy.

Major Achievements

• Achieved honours role and president’s honours role throughout my schooling.

• Obtained overall IGCSE top achiever at the British International College in 2006.

• Achieved the joint nineth highest mark in the world in the June 2008 Cambridge

International AS level examinations for Pscychology.

• Obtained a merit bursary for three consecutive years during my university studies.

• Achieved a certificate of first class in 13 university modules between 2009 and 2011.

• Graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology with an average of 73% in

final year of studies.

• Awarded the Myrtle Aron Award for the best rural community project in Xanthia,

Limpopo in which hearing screenings, audiological testing and counselling and inclusive

education workshops were conducted in a rural village.

• Joined the Golden Key honour society in 2009, which recognizes academic excellence

and is offered to the top 15% of academic achievers within the university.

Personal Profile

Working with a disadvantaged community, many people having multiple disabilities, has been a

valuable learning experience. It has enhanced the breadth of my communication skills and

through this, I have built an appreciation of the diversity of cultures. Due to this experience and

my international exposure, this positions me well for future endeavours, both locally and

internationally.

I am a motivated, compassionate and caring person with high ethical standards. I have a keen

interest in adult speech pathology and audiology. I have the following goals:

• To contribute to a successful practice whilst delivering world class speech and

audiological services.

• To improve the quality of life and daily participation of people with speech and

audiological disorders through effective intervention.

• To further my skills through learning and experience in order to improve my therapy

standards.

• To obtain my masters degree.

Outside of my professional interests, my hobbies include cooking and baking, gym, fitness and

travelling.
