Professional Experience:
Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd. (MVML), Chakan, MH, India.
February 2012 - July 2012
Assistant Quality Assurance Engineer
. Responsible for addressing daily shop floor concerns of manufacturing
processes in Body Shop.
. Conducted QCRT (Quick Concern Resolution Team) meetings to determine the
root cause of the problem by involving related departments and team
members.
. Maintained and updated corrective actions, reports of the QCRT meetings.
. Led a team of 2 Team leaders and 6 associates at MVML for the quality
assurance of the manufactured Body in white (BIW), and coordinated with
the vendor for the evaluation of the supply quality.
. Analyzed CMM inspection reports and checking fixture reports for the
complete truck body assembly and individual assemblies for the
nonconforming parts.
. Conducted internal 5S audit, production and process audits such as Tear
down, Torque audit, CMM inspection, Final buy off and maintained
engineering documents for the same.
. Controlled the Bill of Materials, Part numbers, Product manual and
Product inserts in a fast paced working environment.
. Wrote and updated Systematic Operating Procedure (SOP) of checking
fixture inspection for individual sheet metal body parts for the
standardization and improvement of the quality systems.
. Supported manufacturing and quality operations for design changes and
prototype building and testing
. Gained direct exposure to the assembly process flow and manufacturing
processes of the body shop, Trim, Chassis and Final Line.
Major projects:
. Improved CSI (Customer satisfaction index) in MVML through QCRT
meetings.
. The minor concerns of the Body shop were solved through online
inspection which improved CSI by 4 %.
. The major concerns were proposed for higher level QCRT where decision
regarding implementation of Poka yoke system were taken and improved CSI
by 7%.
. The Poka yoke system was designed and implemented on assembly fixture of
a door to prevent use of an out of tolerance hinge samples supplied from
the vendor in the door assembly.
. Designed Poka yoke system resulted in the reduction of time in the final
buy off inspection and repair time, which minimized the inspection time
by 5 seconds.

Relevant academic projects: Ohio University, Athens, OH
Research Work - Thesis: Quantify and improve the accuracy of stiffness
measurements of cancellous bone from porcine mandibular condyle.
. Developed linear finite element (FE) models of cancellous bone cube
specimens by to measure the stiffness.
. The stiffness estimated from FE models is validated by calculating the
stiffness of the same bone specimens by performing compression test at a
small strain of 0.6% using (MTS) testing machine.
. Detailed investigation of the errors associated with FE and experimental
methods was carried out to improve the agreement of stiffness
measurements.
Study project: Impact strength analysis of an automobile fender using ALGOR
multiphysics finite element program
. Study project of Impact strength of the Plastic fenders used in the
automobiles were compared for the light collisions with steel fenders.
. Designed automobile plastic and steel fender in UNIGRAPHICS NX 8.5, and
tested for deformations with different load conditions by performing
simulations in ALGOR.
. Outcome: Plastic fenders showed maximum elastic recovery from the
deformations resulted in light collisions, enhanced resistance against
minor impact, and reduced weight as compared to steel
Pune University, Pune, MH, INDIA: Bachelor of Engineering
Senior design Project: Manpower reduction and the productivity improvement
in the carburetor pin pressing assembly.
. Improvement in the productivity of the carburetor pin pressing operation
was achieved by designing a new load frame and modifying the pneumatic
pressing machine.
. The design and drafting of the load frame was done in CATIA V5.
. Outcome: The production cycle time was reduced by 5 seconds. Saving in
the cost of one machine, operator and space on the shop floor for the
required high production was successfully achieved.
