PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Stevens Institute of Technology Solar Decathlon, Hoboken, NJ
Renewable Energy Research and Design Intern (Patented in Summer 2014) Spring 2014-Present
• Modeled a renewable liquid desiccant system that runs on solar energy, patented in the summer of 2014
• Simulated various designs for the system that include dehumidification desiccant columns and evaporative coolers using
ASPEN Plus software with Calcium & Lithium Chloride; system was successful in dehumidifying and cooling hot, moist air
• Determined cost, energy analysis, and power consumption for the entire system
• Built a testing area (rooms) for the project and ran various humidity and temperature tests
• Designed a mechanical ventilation unit (ERV) coupled with the desiccant system for better dehumidification efficiency
• Provided various literature research to choose proper materials that can handle the corrosion of the desiccant, and to select
proper equipment such as sensors, valves, pumps, or flow controllers
• Released documented work with test results and currently awaiting a publication
Environmental Protection Agency, Edison, NJ
Pesticides and Toxic Substances Safety and Appliance Intern June 2014-August 2014
• Analyzed Polychlorinated biphenyl exposures (PCB) in schools of NJ and NY using samples and developed a
grouping/frequency method to link and find a common cause to these exposure incidents
• Observed residential chemical toxic substance exposures in NY and NJ and determined the type of chemicals that were exposed
to the citizens based on illness effects, data samples, and their complaints
• Worked with different pesticide equipment design modifications to limit pesticide spray drift incidents
• Analyzed various pesticide spray equipment and fertilizers to determine types of fields they are used in
• Determined if cases occurring due to pesticide poisoning were as a result of landscaping, agricultural use, or field use
• Mapped different areas of NJ, NY, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands for the pesticide team to analyze potential future pesticide
spray drift incidents
Bayonne City Council Campaign, Bayonne, NJ
Campaign Supervisor Fall 2011-2012, Summer 2013
• Managed communicating with the Senator of New Jersey (Bob Menendez) and other political figures regarding minimum wage
campaigns and various election campaigns
• Delegated with teams to distribute various campaign materials and communicate with local residents
DESIGN EXPERIENCE
Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ
Chemical Plant Design Spring 2014
• Modeled various chemical plant designs with ASPEN Plus (Ethanol, Cyclohexane plants)
• Used ASPEN PLUS software to run energy and economic analysis simulations for different plant models
Design of a Plating Tank System Spring 2013
• Modeled a tank filling system using Simulink in MATLAB and created various designs
• Analytically calculated the time it would take the tank’s reaction to occur, empty, and clean
Environmental Project Spring 2012
• Created a frame for an environmental project that was able to detect various wind speeds and composition of oxygen and carbon
dioxide in the environment using oxygen and carbon dioxide sensors
