Rowan drilling 4 years,1980 84

Alaska united drilling 2 years 84 to 86

Conservative Drilling 2 years offshore Kenai Alaska / Cook inlet 8 of the 13 platforms

Experience: 10 years derrick man/assistant driller 4 years motorman, floors, pits, forklift operator.

Worked every job on a drilling rig. Worked every major oilfield in the state of Alaska off shore and

onshore. From Point Barrow to Barter Island.

Was part of the first ball mill on the Alaska North Slope / Prudhoe Bay. Processed the waste

materials created by drilling, running it through ball mill to 60 micron sand. This was mixed with

drilling mud and injected into an injection well. Responsible for modifications to the Ball Mill that

made the system work in the minus 40* environment.

Pushed roustabouts, did the site preparation to set up for the next well. Worked with the trucking

companies for the rig moves

Built ice roads w/ Crowley Maritime to move rigs off the shore to the inland drill site from Point

Thompson. For five years I was the first crew out to start the rig up and build the ice roads and drill

sites. Pool Arctic Alaska drilled the KIC # 1 in 1986 for Chevron, this is the only well drilled in the

(ANWR) Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. Pool had 3 rigs designed to be moved with C 130

Hercules air craft. In my 10 years @ Pool, I was part of 4 Herc jobs, Big Bend, Sourdough 1,

KIC#1 and PET 4 Naval Reserve.

Pool had 4 tail roll trucks and a Sow. The trucks were shipped to the remote locations with

rollagons / special vehicles designed to run on the frozen tundra. We used the trucks to rig up.

The tail roll trucks were also pole trucks. We could rig up without a crane, if we were too remote.

Have worked on jobs for, Unocal, Marathon, Phillips, BP, Arco, Shell, Chevron, Conoco, Amoco,

drilling and work over’s.

BOP school, on shore and offshore certification as needed. Been out of it for 17 years so these

certifications have lapsed.

Worked on all kinds of rigs, conventional rotary and top drives. And work over truck rigs.

Worked 2 summers 1993 & 1994 as a painting foreman, sand blasting mud pits spraying cold tar

protective coatings and painting stacked out drilling rigs. Qualified and received hazardous paint

handler certification for the state of Alaska. Headed the paint crews ordered all equipment and

material and arranged shipping to Prudhoe Bay.

Installed luminous egress system on 3 rigs rig 4, 6, and 7 while in operation. The egress system

was designed to mark the walk ways and hand rails with glow in the dark paint and signs. This

system worked well when loss of power occurred. With 24 hrs of darkness in the winter months it

gets dark inside a building when you lose power. All Alaska rigs are totally enclosed to about 30

feet below the monkey board, all pits and motor rooms and pipe sheds all have steam heating

systems or million BTU Tioga heaters.

All paints were epoxy base and required supply air respirator system for use in doors and a full

face respirator for outdoor use to protect your eyes. Safety of the

crews mixers and painter was my responsibility, protective suits, barrier creams, protective gloves and respirator sy

were bought and maintained under my supervision.
