Responsible for all areas of the BP Texas City Chemical Site, which included 3 Paraxylene units, 2 Metaxylene units, and the Docks. Managed 125 hourly employees in a union environment, 25 salary employees and led the site through the preparations and repairs related to Hurricane Ike.
• Set standards for financial delivery and reporting to better align the site with the rest of the chemicals division
• Managed asset availability based on feedstock prices and customer demand
• Contributed heavily to strategic planning as part of the Works Leadership Team
• Interacted heavily with the US Coast Guard and the Port of Texas City to coordinate repairs to the deep water docking facility
• Coordinated much of the work to enable the site to start production six weeks after the heavy hurricane damage
• Extensive public relations training and professionalism required to work for BP in the Texas City area

Managed all facets of the NDC (Dimethyl-2,6-Naphthalene Dicarboxylate) unit at the BP Decatur Site; responsible for 50 operators, 6 foremen and 6 engineers. NDC is used in the production of PEN resin.
• Established new business plan quickly which used a Value Capture strategy taking the unit from negative income to positive $30 million
• Set new monthly production records six times by establishing new operator guidelines and stressing reliability
• Responsible for all budgets (Fixed, Variable and Capital)
• Campaign mode allowed utilization of personnel in nontraditional roles by backing out contractors, reducing overtime in other areas of the plant and cross training of operators in maintenance roles
TEXAS CITY INTEGRITY TEAM 4/05 – 10/05

Part of a multidiscipline team assembled to investigate and review the Texas City Isomerization unit explosion which killed 15 personnel on March 23, 2005, at the BP Texas City Refinery.
• Established root causes and recommendations for the BP report which was prepared parallel to the report by the U.S. Chemical Safety Board
• Set the foundations for BP’s new global standards for Process Safety Management, TAR management and Control of Work requirements
