Generated a Village Level Information System. All the taluks of the Thane District with the village

boundaries had been traced out from the Census Book of Thane District. They were digitized and

registered in Arc/Info GIS package. Such spatial maps were brought into ArcView Package and saved

as project files. Apart from this non spatial data were collected from the Thane Collector Office for

all these taluks and joined with the Spatial Data to develop a Village Level Information System.

Using the integrated data different thematic views such as Total population, Sc/St Population, Crop

Acerage, Availability of Banking Facilities, were generated.
