WORK EXPERIENCE
Release Management Services – SunTrust Banks, Inc. May 2012 to present
Environment Management: This involves support and maintenance activities in different QA testing environments
to make sure that the testing regions are available and ready for testing cycles. Typically the activities would
involve capturing data from production, restoring data into the desired testing environment, setting up the
schedule of jobs to be run by application teams, generating forecast and getting approvals from the participating
applications, batch setup/validation, monitoring of jobs/cycle, reporting the progress to stakeholders.
Application Support: This involves activities involving all the applications participating in a release to have the
necessary setup in the testing environment, so as to participate in a release testing cycle. It involves package
creation for data capture, database unloads and loads, job conversion for test regions, job scan, forecast approval,
application specific pre batch activities, production sync, batch monitoring/resolution/escalation, defect
creation/tracking/closure, regression testing, implementation support. These activities are performed for 45
mainframe applications, 1 Unix application and are handled by 30 offshore resources.
Training Environment: This involves support and maintenance activities in setting up the training environments for
SunTrust Bank. These environments are used to conduct training classes for newly hired employees or specific
classes for existing employees. Activities involve capturing data from a validated test region, restoring data into the
training environment, running jobs to fetch and generate reports of different accounts needed for training classes
and regular maintenance activities.
Role : Onshore Lead
Responsibility : Single point of contact between clients and 30+ offshore team, effort/resource allocation,
project reporting, status reporting on batch cycles, issue resolution, release calendar,
coordinating weekly status calls involving clients and offshore team, automation effort, status
update/tracking on tasks involving environment management/application support.
Software : CA7, COBOL, DB2, JCL, File Manager, CAT, Endevor, ALM, Citrix, QTP.

Comprehensive Health Insurance Processing System– WellPoint, Inc. May 2010 to May 2012
This project involved maintenance and enhancement of Comprehensive Health Insurance Processing System
(CHIPS) a health insurance claim adjudication engine used by WellPoint (Anthem South east). CHIPS was an
integrated processing system; processing professional, dental, facility, vision, hearing and pharmacy claims –
interacting with 27 other Anthem applications. Changing business needs and health reforms necessitate changes in
the existing claims processing and benefit calculations and CHIPS needed frequent changes to cater to such
changes in business processes/needs. The CHIPS application provided on line, real time processing, while
maintaining batch capabilities as well.
Role : Lead Developer/Onshore Lead
Responsibility : Requirement gathering, estimation, analysis and design, documentation, test case
preparation, test data setup, coding and unit testing, review of deliverables, coordinating
efforts between offshore onshore, effective communication between clients and offshore
teammates, status reporting, effort/resource allocation, code merge, code move, 24/7
production support, implementation and warranty support.
Software : COBOL, DB2, IMS/DB, JCL, XPEDITOR, REXX, Online screens, EzTrieve, File Aid, Endevor
Member Enrollment Application Aetna, Inc. Mar 2009 to Apr 2010
Member Enrollment Application (MEA) dealt with a member’s enrollment into Aetna systems, subscribed to
traditional insurance products. Enrollments were performed in two modes, batch and real time/online
enrollments. Both these processes shared the functional services to perform the enrollments. During this
enrollment process, these functional services interacted with other domains like plan and provider. This process
also fed data to downstream applications like billing, fulfillment and ID cards. This project involved the steady
state maintenance of the legacy applications for Aetna. Requests in the form of baseline requests, enhancements,
major releases and new functionality needed to be implemented.
Role : Lead Developer
Responsibility : Requirement gathering, analysis and design, estimation, effort allocation, documentation, test
case preparation, test data setup, coding and testing, onshore offshore communication, status
reporting, review of all deliverables, incident management, implementation and warranty
support.
Software : COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, Online screens, XPEDITOR, File Aid, Endevor
Electronic Enrollment Management: Aetna, Inc. Dec 2008 to Feb 2009
The EEM system dealt with receiving input data directly from the plan sponsors. This data sent by the customers
was reformatted (if required) into Aetna standard layout and then was compared with the current database status
to generate new/change transactions. These transactions were then passed through a set of business rules and
eventually all these transactions that were successfully validated, were updated to Enrollment Database.
Role : Developer
Responsibility : Requirement gathering, analysis and design, estimation, documentation, test case
preparation, test data setup, coding and testing, onshore offshore communication, status
reporting, review of all the deliverables, implementation and warranty support.
Software : COBOL, DB2, JCL, Expediter, File Aid, Endevor
DMSO: MassMutual, Inc. Dec 2007 to Sep 2008
DMSO involved the steady state maintenance of the legacy applications for MassMutual, a life insurance company.
It typically involved requests spanning three distinct buckets (Bug Fixes, Minor Enhancements and Major
Enhancements). DMSO continuously underwent changes in the form of baseline requests, enhancements, major
releases and new functionalities with complex business logic. The project spanned as many as 40 applications and
supported a very wide range of mainframe technologies.

Member Enrollment Application: Aetna, Inc. Jan 2007 to Nov 2007
Member Enrollment Application (MEA) dealt with a member’s enrollment into Aetna systems, subscribed to
traditional insurance products. Members were enrolled either via online transactions through MEA or through a
batch process. This enrollment information was stored in Member Book of Records (MBoR), which was the main
data store for member details. The enrolled members' details could be edited or updated through an online or
batch processes. MBoR tables were updated in near real time to overcome data inconsistency issues arising
through batch jobs.
