Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Case Manager August 2010-May 2011
Provided case management for clients who were raising their grandchildren. Social services
ranged from finding community resources, school referrals, employment help, financial
assistance with bills, providing clothing and food vouchers, and monthly support groups. Assisted
with support groups with other interns for grandparents and grandchildren. Performed monthly
client home visits around the county and surrounding counties to manage their progress in the
program. Provided referral information to clients regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and
transportation issues, as well as provided clients rides to doctors’ appointments and mentored the
grandchildren on occasional school days.
The Tree House Winder, GA
Heroes Support Group Mentor January 2009-April 2009
Mentored adolescent clients at the agency during a weekly support group called Heroes. Provided
emotional and mental health support to children who were survivors of physical, emotional and/or
sexual abuse. Conducted a four-month program with other mentors and group leaders consisting
of group and one-one-one activities with the children and mentors to help process the experience
of abuse in a healthy and safe environment.
