Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of NITEL

MD/CEO of NITEL, the national telecom operator of Nigeria, GSM, CDMA and fixed line operations.

Responsible for Transnational Corp.’s telecom businesses NITEL and MTEL including leading a

corporate restructuring and transformation. Developing and implementing a new turnaround business

strategy, reduced headcount of 6,000 by over 10% and increased revenues. Developed and wrote the

company’s business and technology plans for its fixed line and wireless GSM, CDMA SAT-3 undersea

cable business. Worked with all of our technology suppliers, on the network implementations. Developed

plans for a possible outsourcing of towers and for consolidation of IN Platforms and billing systems, 4G

planning.

International Consulting Saudi Arabia, India, Haiti 2003 – 2007, 2012-13

Consulting on the privatization sale of a large telecom operator overseas. Examination and valuation of

properties, buildings, towers, frequencies, licenses and other assets. Market assessment, business plan

opportunities and preparation of documents. Investor presentations and evaluation of prospective buyers.

Telecom/Qanawat

Worked on a nationwide POS network for prepaid electronic recharge at the company’s retail

stores and dealer network. Consulted with retail store designers and suppliers on optimum

store layout.

Senior Advisor, Tata Industries Ltd.

Tata Industries is one of two holding companies in the Tata Group, at $100+ billion it is one

of the largest and oldest companies in India. Was involved in procurement of the network

infrastructure for the CDMA mobile network and traveled worldwide to procure handsets for

sale in the company and distributor network stores. Served on the supervisory board for the

combined national telecom sales forces. Led the rebranding effort for a streamlined brand

and logo and product advertising.

RELIANCE Communications LTD, Mumbai, India 2001 -

2003

Vice President, Marketing

Hired at the onset of the project as the sole foreign national, reporting to the CEO. Worked

on the selection of the IN Platform, Billing System and handsets. Led the process for

vendor and management consultant selection and negotiation. Developed the company’s

marketing organization, products, pricing and branding. Assisted with the establishment of

the call centers and billing department. Established the company’s first corporate website

and the products for its data hosting business.

AT&T, US, Europe 1981 –

2001

General Manager, AT&T Solutions

Responsible for P/L of strategic businesses of AT&T Solutions. Managed outsourced

annual revenue of $150 million, exceeding revenue targets. Sold under an outsourcing

contract complex data and voice services along with equipment and network management.

Head of Revenue Assurance for Concert

Led the North American Revenue Assurance and Billing for the AT&T/BT International Joint

Venture

Director, Product Marketing and Sales, Czech Telecom

On loan from AT&T to Czech Telecom the national telephone operator of the Czech

Republic for four years. Successfully introduced new products including Toll Free Service,

Prepaid Calling Cards, Voice Mail and Internet Service. Built the country’s first call center

and introduced a toll free calling product.
