R E: CAE/Simulation Engineer
Dear Sir or Madam,
As a Mechatronic Engineering major at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and
Technology, I was provided wi th an in terdisciplinary education in Mechanical Engineering,
E lect r ical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. This has prepared me to design
mechatronic systems which combine all th ree f ields.
I a m sincerely in terested in th is position due to my experience wi th Patran-Nastran.
I a lso have experience wi th programming in Assembly Language, Embedded C/C++, and
P LC languages. I have also worked wi th motors and have ample documentation skills due
t o my lab courses. Here are some of my qualif ications:
Ha rdware Exper ience
• Buil t an automated powder-coating machine
• Programmed each station in the assembly l ine of the Siemens Simatic Step 7 PLC
a utomation system
• Used the L@Bsoft UniTrain-I t rainer to work wi th PLCs via Profibus
• Designed and buil t robots for the annual VEX robotics competi t ions as a member of
m y school’s robotics team
• Oscilloscope, Power Supply, Signal Generator experience
Softwa re P rogramming Skills
• CATIA V5
• Patran-Nastran FEA modeling
• MAT LAB/Simulink Control Systems Simulat ion
• Programmed an Arduino Uno to control the powder-coating machine for my Senior
Design Project
• Programmed a Programmable Logic Cont roller (PLC) in the Function Block
D iagram, Ladder Diagram, Statement L ist and Structured Text languages
• Programmed a speaker to play a full song in Embedded C wi th the PIC18F458
m icrocontroller as part of the f inal project for my course in M icroprocessors
• U t i l ized the PIC18F458/0 microcont rollers to program various sensors in Embedded
C a nd Assembly Language
Strong Communication Skills
• Earned the gold medal for the in terview category at the A r izona Academic Decathlon
S tate Competit ion in 2010
Due to my experience wi th testing and debugging Siemens’ Simatic Step 7 PLC
a utomation system, my work wi th the PIC18F458 microcont roller and C++, as well as my
Senior Design Project, I know I could cont r ibute greatly to this employer. I would l ike to
schedule an in terview at your earliest convenience to discuss my qualif ications. I
g raduated on May 17, and I am available to begin working immediately. I am wil ling to
r elocate for this position at my own expense.
Thank you for taking the t ime to consider me as a potential employee. I am looking
forward to hearing from you.

September 2010 – May 2014
Bachelor of Science (B.S.), May 17, 2014
Mechatronic Engineering
Cumulative GPA: 3.61/4.00
Senior Design Project
Automated Powder-Coating Machine September
2013 – April 2014
• I buil t an automated powder-coating machine wi th two other students. My main
r esponsibil i ty was designing the code for an Arduino Uno microcontroller which ran
t he machine. The machine is capable of paint ing metallic objects and accepts inputs
f rom a user via th ree switches. This allows the Arduino to determine the length of
t ime a par t is sprayed for using a spraying gun controlled wi th a PWM signal.
