Design modification of existing medical Intra-muscular (IM) syringes that would ensure the operator’s

(apostrophe) compliance to Joint Commission standards while reducing the number of process steps it takes to

prepare the medicine for injection. The idea was captured and filed as invention.

• Fluid dynamics – Model predictions of the motion of medicine during injection for a better design

• Material science – Stress and pressure calculation of the chosen material to maintain integrity of device

• SolidWorks – Design and draw 3D components for the syringe in real dimension, run simulations on the

assembly and use it for 3D printing to test the actual model

• Matlab Coding – simple calculation of the stress to design the thickness of the components

• Real life application – Worked with external sponsor. Data was used for future development of a

product to be sold in the market
