Social Chair, Circle K; Philadelphia, PA 2013-2014
In 2013 I was elected to LaSalle’s Circle K board as social chair. My duties included recruitment, attending board meetings,
leading service trips, driving the school van to transport members and material to service sites, supervising volunteers at volunteer
location, handing out and posting flyers throughout the school, etc.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha offered various volunteer opportunities. Activities included volunteering at Manna House, raising money for
various organizations such as St. Jude, and participating at various school events such as Relay for Life, cancer fundraising events
that help communities.
Peer Leader of The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, Department of Aging June 2014
Trained and received a certification as a peer leader of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program which is a 6-session
evidence-based workshop designed for people living with persistent health conditions. Certification date is expected Tuesday July
1st, 2014.
Volunteer, Circle K; Philadelphia, PA 2011-May, 2014
Circle K, a service organization, offered various volunteer opportunities. I volunteered through Circle K at Maple Wood Manor,
Philabundance, and PSPCA. At Maple Wood Manor, a nursing home, I volunteered to aid the elderly in activities. At
Philabundance, hunger relief organization, I volunteered to aide in boxing food supplies for people who needed food. At PSPCA I
volunteered in aiding with different tasks such as laundry service, feeding the cats, handing out treats to the dogs, taking the dogs
out for a walk, playing fetch with them, giving them companionship, love, and care.

Volunteered to give a group of La Salle University of Mexico alumni, visiting our country and performing at the Philadelphia
Museum of Art, a tour of the city of Philadelphia.

Welcomed visitors and answered visitors’ questions with an amiable attitude. Responsibilities were miscellaneous. They included
preparing excel worksheets, keeping record of visitors, using Photoshop to edit images, photographing Art work, checking
temperatures and humidity levels in each room of the museum, picking up and sending out mail, etc. I also worked special events
at the museum where I would great visitors, answer questions, and help set up the museum for special events. On
occasion I also helped Miranda Clark Binder, Curator of Education, with her projects, which involved working with
children in arts and crafts.

The purpose of this study was to examine perceptions and attitudes about intellectual disabilities in relation to labeling. My
research partner and I presented our research at the LaSalle University Undergraduate Symposium lecture 2013.
