Responsibilities and Accomplishments:
My commercial/investment banking career began at JP Morgan in 1980 followed by 23 years at Lehman
Brothers specializing in Healthcare & Higher Education (for & non-profit) Real Estate and Co-Head of
multi-industry Private/Public Project Finance P(3) Group. My job description was managing office of
bankers/traders and targeting, establishing, building and managing long-term business relationships with
‘decision makers’ at corporate board, executive levels, federal/state legislators and governors nationwide.
Building those personal and corporate relationships succeeded in growing market-share, national ranking
and profitability by funding performing debt and equity assets applying virtually every conceivable
structure.
The cornerstone of my success was centered in real estate/healthcare ‘credit fundamentals’ dynamic
initiatives learned at JP Morgan applied for over two decades at Lehman Brothers implementing cutting-
edge creativity and innovative financings some of which were “first time” structures on Wall Street.
Accomplishing my professional responsibilities required the ability to manage industry changes and
expectations of our client, all credit market participants, market forces and a high quality banking team
necessary to execute and deliver the transaction developed to provide creative solutions to our client’s
market, financial and operating challenges.
Skills and Abilities:
My career focused on credit fundamentals constantly building trust and credibility with clients,
institutional and high-net worth investors, rating agencies, commercial and investment banks, financial
insurers, consultants, accountants and legal firms nationally. This was a process of accumulation building
trust and confidence over many years involving for-profit, non-profit, special purpose and
federal/state/local governmental entities.
My basic expertise is centered on my understanding of balance sheets, income statements and related
footnotes in multiple industries and converting that knowledge to exposure to risk.
Recruiter as Lehman Brother’s Senior Banker:
As a senior banker at Lehman Brothers, I was responsible for recruiting candidates from under and post-
graduate and doctorial students at leading universities across the country. This included technical and on-
the-job training of analysts, associates, vice presidents until they became independent able to perform
their own professional responsibilities. The vast majority of the young bankers I had the pleasure of
working with I consider professional and personal friends to this day as they are scattered among senior
positions at commercial/investment banking, legal, political positions and in many lines of businesses
across the country.
Project Finance P(3) Public/Private Projects:
As co-head of Lehman Brothers P(3) Group, I managed the role of Lehman’s Debt and Equity Syndicate
and Underwriting Desk engineering and designing complex Private and Limited Public Offerings
providing creative solutions for our firms “buy” and “sell” side clients. Essential to the success of these
projects were; (i) Innovative Plan of Finance, (ii) construct Road Sow Presentation, (iii) target
Institutional Investors and (iv) execution. Lehman Brothers lead the trend toward Privatization Project
Finance initiatives nationwide all based fundamentally on real estate, project demand, operator and legal
structure credit principals.
My expertise in Project Finance grew from my knowledge of “credit fundamentals” learned and
developed since JP Morgan. This expertise is evidenced by relationships built and projects funded with
the states of North Carolina, New Mexico, Virginia, Arizona and corporations Halliburton, Centex, Moss
Construction all wishing to “think-out-the box” for solutions balancing leverage, capital and political
