generally i covered days off for the assistant manager. I opened and closed. I had responsibility to secure funds and inventory and protect company assets. I was responsible for the general operation of the business I was there as the only member of management. during the other shifts I was very responsible for outstanding customer service and dealing with whatever assignments that was delegated.

Although I was a 3rd key manager I gained the responsibility to be a visual merchandiser. With showing my efforts and accomplishments of window dressing and visual merchandising my manager admired my technique. She looked forward and counted on me to get the job done. In spite of me and my store manger enjoying my work and the good effort I put forth, it was hard moving up within the company and getting the pay deserved. I used this experience as a motivation to get something better.

I was present in every retail and financial setting. A cashier’s job may seem simple – after all what else do they have to do except taking payments? This may seem true but, in actuality, I did more than just accepting payments in exchange of goods sold. Before taking payments, i scans the merchandise, calculates that the price is correctly displayed and even bags the items sold at times.
I do not only work with payments which is why i needed to have good knowledge of credit cards and debit cards. You will find a cashier managing a whole lot of bookkeeping as well due to the fact that they have to balance the cash register at the end of every shift and ensure that no discrepancies are found as far as cash is concerned. Since this is a job that concerns money in a huge way, i need to be absolutely skillful in managing cash effectively and with absolute accuracy.
