Speech Compression for Better Audibility using Wavelets

T ransformation with Adaptive Kalman Filtering

Abstract Speech compression is the technology of converting human speech

i nto an efficiently encoded representation that can later be decoded to

p roduce a close approximation of the original signal. The wavelet t ransform

of a signal decomposes the original signal into wavelets coefficients at

d ifferent scales and positions, but output after fil tering is not accurate. The

p roposed Kalman fil ter method improved signal to noise ratio (SNR) of

o riginal speech compared to above methods which were observed from the

r esults.

Results are simulated in Matlab simulink 7.5b, completed as a part of thesis

work in M-Tech.
