CAREER OBJECTIVE

A research associate/scientist position in a biotechnology-based

academic institute and industrial company utilizing hands-on Molecular

biology, cell biology and immunology techniques under GLP to carry out

experiments for research and development.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY

Many year laboratory hands on experiences in molecular biology, cell

biology, Microbiology, biochemistry and immunology in academic institutes

and industrial companies. Independently designed, developed and carried out

experiments, in vitro and in vivo; excellent computer skills. Demonstrated

team player with excellent presentation and communication skills.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

1. Molecular Biological techniques: DNA cloning, mRNA isolation and RT-

PCR, cDNA and genomic libraries screening, protein-protein interaction

screening based on Yeast Two Hybrid System and mammalian cell system;

Site-directed mutagenesis, qPCR.

2. Cellular techniques: Well-experienced in cell culture, prepare target

gene constructs and make stable cell lines in HEK293, CHO and other

host cell lines; familiar with Flp-In and Gene-switch expression

system, cellular transduction pathway analysis, and cell-based HTS

with Flipr-Tetra(Molecular Devices), calcium Imaging system, Bio-

Mek(Backman Coutler) liquid handling system, and flow cytometry.

3. Animal Experiment and Immunology: Immuned mice, titrate the antibody

in blood, isolate B-cells from spleen to fusion with myloma to form

hybridoma, and screen high affinity Mab clones, purified Mab from

ascites or culture medium, well-experienced in antigen-antibody

immunoassays, especially in ELISA and rapid test.

4. Microbiology and Biochemistry: Worked on prokaryotic and eukaryotic

expression systems, Familiar with HPLC, FPLC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot,

immuno-precipitation to purify and/or analyze target proteins.

5. Common laboratory techniques: well-experienced laboratory protocol

writing as SOP, experimental data collection and site inventory

management. And good training in maintenance of all lab regular

equipment, such as UV Spectrophotometer, Ultra-centrifuge,

programmable 96-well plate reader, image density photometer, vi-cell,

Nanodrop, Fluorescence microscope, etc.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES

International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. (IFF), Union Beach, NJ

11/2007-7/2014

Research Investigator (Scientist)

. Engineering taste receptor genes into host cell lines, such as HEK293

and CHO cells, to build taste receptor stable cell lines,

. Develop cell-based high throughput screening (HTS) assay in Flipr-

Tetra, screen natural components and synthesized compounds for taste

modulation enhancement or blocking.

Elusys Therapeutics, Inc. Pine Brook

11/2006-11/2007

Research Scientist (Contract)

. Purify humanized monoclonal antibodies which used in conjugating HP

antibodies, a potential antibody drug treating infectious diseases,

analyzed the purity of antibodies and conjugated dimers.

UMDNJ-NJMS, NJDS, Newark, NJ

9/2001-10/2006

Research Associate III

. Build a series of yeast strains with ZIP1 mutants with insertion of

GFP gene in different domains, purify the recombinant protein and its

complexes using TAP tag and investigate its role in the chromosomal

pairing and segregation in live cells.

Bionike Laboratories, Inc, South San Francisco, CA

7/2000-8/2001

Research Scientist, in R&D department

. Design, construct and express the recombinant proteins derived from

these genes of infectious viruses, including HIV, HCV, HBV, etc.

. Purified these proteins as antigen to preduce ELISA kit and Rapid

test strips.

. Applied these antigen proteins to immune mice and built various Mab

strains fusioned with myeloma to prepare specific Mabs used in

immunoassay products.

Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore, MD

9/1997 to 6/2000

Research Fellow, in Oncology Center

. Research on signal transduction of Viral cytokine vIL-6 derived from

HHV-8 in vitro,

. Focusing on the relationship between structure and function of vIL-6

in signal transduction pathway, STAT-3 protein, first time use "double

antigen Sandwich"-like method to analyze receptor and ligand with flow

cytometry, comparing to human IL-6.
