Verify test requisitions by comparing information and bringing discrepancies to unit personal,
maintaining communication with physicians, nursing staff, laboratory personal, coworkers and
supervisors.
Collect specimens by venipuncture, skin punctures, nasopharyngeal and throat swabs following
department procedures; observing isolation precautions.
Resolve atypical test orders by contacting the physician, pathologist, nursing staff, or reference
laboratory; referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notifying supervisor
of unresolved orders
Collect lab samples from draw ports, saline locks, and assist nurses with collections from vascular
devices.
Perform diagnostic and treatment monitoring procedures, such as audiometric testing, pulmonary
