employment in support of government contract work at home and abroad. Also, responsible for
supporting proposal efforts with qualified candidates. Closely coordinated with program managers and

career days and job fairs on and off military installations to build a pool of high quality candidates.

Fort Bragg, NC September 2006 – March 2008
Served as a Senior Staff Officer in the J-3 (Operations) of an elite special operation command. Forward
deployed to operational areas to lead a staff section in a Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF).
Supported the Deputy Director Operations as one of several officers performing daily mission command
tasks.

North Carolina National Guard, Raleigh, NC. April 2004 – September 2006
Served as director of a 22 person Human Resources department responsible for 1,700 full-time
employees and $98 million dollar budget. Gained experience at the Director level with extensive
participation in staff coordination, problem solving, strategy development and program management.
Developed and executed a strategy to increase the number of employees by 10% and staying within a
$54 million dollar budget which resulted in increased effectiveness of the organization. Gained
substantial experience in employee relations, staffing, compensation, EO/EEO, benefits, recruiting, labor
relations, placement and employee development.
Human Resources Officer
North Carolina National Guard, Raleigh, NC. February 2002 – March 2004
Responsible for day to day operations, supervision, and activities of 4 sections within the military
personnel directorate ensuring that each section functions efficiently, effectively, and has guidance as
needed. Served as Deputy to the Director and performed those duties and special projects as assigned.
Worked closely with organizational development (OD), performance management and evaluations and
as well as organizational effectiveness (OE) programs. Served as Secretary to the General Officer Career
Management Board which met monthly to oversee matters of senior and executive level assignments
and secession planning. Provided reports from the HRIS, maintained minutes and other planning
documents. Executed personnel actions as directed by the board.
Director of Public Affairs
North Carolina National Guard, Raleigh, NC. July 1998- October 2002
Served as Special Staff to Commanding General. Led a 4 person team responsible for media relations,
community relations, command information, public information, and communication to internal/stake-
holder audiences. Developed office procedures to use the internet, e-mail and websites to proactively
pass information to external and internal audiences. Examples of such activities include using e-mail
groups to send press releases and web links to inform recipients’ on National Guard activities. Planned
general officer overseas travel to visit units performing duties abroad. Extensive experience with
overseas travel. Duties included detailed planning and coordination with a multitude of organizations
including the Department of Defense, State Department and Major Army Commands to develop travel
arrangements, clearances and itineraries. Coordination of threat briefings, security procedures, ground
transportation and escorts. Extensive experience with media relations, public speaking, basic
photography, basic web design, special events coordination, and protocol. Developed targeted
messaging and activities to support the annual strategic plan of the organization.

North Carolina National Guard, RDU Airport, NC. September 1994- June 1998
Senior full-time staff officer for high priority unit supervising 3 personnel. Responsible for equipment,
administration, training, and logistics for a 52 person unit. Passed all inspections and readiness
evaluations and maintained in excess of 100% personnel strength. Successfully developed and executed
a pre-deployment and personnel readiness plan for all unit personnel prior to deploying to Bosnia.
Received North Carolina Meritorious Unit Award and the Army Superior Unit Award for the performance
of the unit. Only awarded to the top 5% units.
