Experience:
May 2013 - Present. INTERTEC SYSTEMS, LLC., Bessemer, Alabama. Quality
Assurance Manager. Primary responsibilities include management and
leadership in all aspects of the Quality Assurance Department. Responsible
for leading Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, Lab Technicians (test
and deployment), and for interface with multiple OEM customers and
suppliers.
Position requires successful evaluation of current quality assurance
programs and confers with top management personnel preparatory to
formulating fiscal budget requirements for quality assurance program and
continuous improvement. Additionally reviews technical problems, operating
processes and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to
problems or dangers.
November 2007 - May 2013. RECTICEL INTERIORS, LLC., Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Quality Assurance Manager. Primary responsibilities include management of
Quality Assurance Department consisting of Quality Engineering, Metrology,
Audit Personnel, Quality Technicians, Color Control Personnel, Offsite
Customer Liaisons, Quality Systems Engineering and Document Control
Personnel, as well as oversight of plant cleaning contractor. Responsible
for formulating and establishing goals, operating policies and procedures
for manufacturing site in cooperation with other executive managers. Have
leadership responsibility as primary contact to establish quality standards
to meet customer requirements and lead necessary efforts to resolve
customer concerns. As a result, PPM's have been reduced by more than 98%.
Required to lead management review and monitor/analyze key performance
indicators for quality. Responsible for initial and subsequent
modifications of product assurance program to delineate areas of
responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within
the program.
Position includes opportunity to be involved with international group
tasked with creating homogeneous work methods, tracking of corporate
results internationally and the sharing of best practices. As a result,
have traveled extensively within the European Union, Mexico and Canada.
Additional responsibilities include training employees in Surface
Appearance Standards, and quality systems with respect to quality. Also
responsible for reviewing quality goals for new employees at their
orientation class, and periodic storm water reporting pursuant to permit
requirements.
December 1996 - November 2007. REHAU, Inc., Cullman, Alabama. Quality
Engineer. Primary responsibilities include resolution of Paint Operation
quality issues on multiple paint lines, supervision of Color Lab and Color
Lab personnel, supervision of customer location plant representatives,
customer liaison, supplier liaison, and supervision of Quality Department
during any absence of the Quality Manager. Secondary responsibilities
include all aspects of product quality in both the Injection Molding and
Fabrication operations during the absence of Engineers with primary
responsibility for these areas. Position requires extensive travel to
locations in the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.
During product start-up for each of several OEM's, was directly responsible
for developing product surface inspection standards along with appropriate
supplemental aids for use on the manufacturing floor. These standards have
been subsequently migrated to all product lines in the plant.
Also responsible for the creation of QS-9000/TS-16949 compliant
documentation for use on the manufacturing floor. These documents include
work instructions, gauge instructions, quality alerts, control plans, flow
diagrams, etc. These documents as well as others are included in PPAP
submissions to multiple OEM customers.
Additional responsibilities include training employees in Surface
Appearance Standards, quality systems, and fabrication methods with respect
to quality. Also responsible for the quality portion of new employee
orientation.
Directly responsible for process improvements in Color Coordination whereby
the company realized a savings of approximately $300,000 per year.
Received the largest monetary award from Corporate Headquarters Office to
date.
April 1994 - December 1996. Textron Automotive Company, Americus, Georgia.
Quality Engineer with responsibility for all aspects of product quality
including molding operations, painting operations, color coordination,
product launch and customer liaison. Responsible for quality aspects of
thermal elastomeric olefin (TEO/TPO) injection molding operations including
system analysis and part quality. Directly responsible for development and
implementation of an audit system resulting in stabilizing operating
parameters which allowed for a 40% increase in operation efficiency.
Position required extensive customer contact both at Textron locations and
OEM locations by phone and travel.
Also responsible for quality related issues on multiple paint lines, both
automated and manual operations. Responsibilities included direct
supervision of personnel involved in continuous monitoring of color
stability and finish quality. As color coordinator, responsibilities in
addition to those above included coordination of sample panel production
utilizing spraymation and production line methods for submission to
customer for production color approval (PPAP). Also required to be
certified for color vision using the Standard Munsell 100 Hue Color Acuity
Test.
Product launch responsibilities included generation of QS-9000 controlled
documentation such as Operator Instructions and Procedures for new
products, Generation of Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), PPSC's (ECO's)
and Control Plans as well as other PPAP documentation.
Customer liaison duties included extensive interaction with major OEM
customers such as Chrysler (Neon and Viper programs) and Mitsubishi
(Chrysler Sebring program) with respect to color issues, part quality
issues and quality support. Extensive travel was required.
Other major duties have included the responsibility for the entire service
parts business as related to quality. Service part load consisted of
approximately 2000 separate part numbers. Responsible for upkeep of ECO
system and quality alerts generated with regards to service parts business.
Also have been responsible for management of remanufacturing program where
defective or outdated material was brought back into the facility,
reworked/updated and shipped to plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Education:
University of Montevallo, Montevallo, Alabama. Graduated May 1981 with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Included on Dean's List for Academic
Achievement and on the National Dean's List.
