Laboratory Experience
• Aseptic bacterial culture (E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. bovis, E. durans and S. epidermidis), bacterial enumeration
(CFU/mL), bacterial stock preparation and storage (Glycerol stock at -80 C), preparation of bacterial nutrient media
(Isosensitest, L.B and T.S broth), preparation of solid nutrient agar plates (L.B agar and T.S agar), bacterial growth
assays (microbroth dilution and spread plate assay), bacterial live/dead assay (XTT assay using 96-well microtiter
plate), antibacterial assays using antibiotics, bacterial membrane permeability assay using fluorescence microscope
using propoidium iodide dye
• Small scale and large scale expression of human growth factor (hFGF-1) protein in a cloned E. coli, extraction,
separation and purification of protein by lysis of bacterial cell using centrifuge, column chromatography, SDS-PAGE
and dialysis, characterization and protein-ligand interaction studies using chromatographic and bioanalytical
techniques (trpysin digestion, thermal denaturation and NMR)
• Sterile preparation of reagents, synthesis and characterization of gold nanoparticles
• Extraction of active components from plant extract using maceration and soxhlet apparatus
• Maintenance of biohazard, sterilization of equipments, glassware, reagents and biohazard waste
• Basic laboratory techniques involving pipetting, analytical balance, centrifuge, incubator, pH meter, lyophilizer
and autoclave
