Manufacturing of
Gears
Description: Studied about the various methods of manufacturing of
gears at Vizag Steel Plant and manufacturing a gear (which is used in blast
furnace) by hobbing process with given dimensions by our project guide. It
gives a clear view about how the gears are manufactured and where they are
used with perfect vision. This project helps me to know how actually the
industries look like and how the nature of work for mechanical engineers.
Project 2:
Design and analysis of universal suspension system for
Automobile Applications
Description: Suspension system is meant for providing comfort for
passengers traveling in an automobile vehicle against dynamic loads
originated from roads. The two primary elements of a suspension system are
spring and damper. This constraint demands for a special requirement of
having unique design of suspension system for a given vehicle which is
impractical for mass production. Cost effectiveness is the chief advantage
associated with mass production of suspension systems having identical
design. In order to meet this constraint design of universal (Common design
for any vehicle) suspension system is taken up in this project. In order to
achieve universal design initially suspension systems with identical
stiffness will be evolved. The superior feature of this proposed design is
suspension system with variable stiffness. A mechanism will be incorporated
as inbuilt system while designing the suspension system using which
stiffness value can be adjusted. By adjusting the stiffness of the spring
particular suspension system can be made suited to any vehicle. This
project offers promising solution for arriving at cost effective
production. After identifying the configuration all subsystems will be
designed and subsequently dimensional models will be framed. Then these
dimensional models will be transformed to solid model of the assembled
configuration using 3D CAD software. Then this system will be analyzed
using Finite Element Method (FEM) in commercial FEA software i.e. ANSYS.
Design will be fine-tuned and finalized based on the outcome of analysis.
