Human Resource Experience
Battelle for Kids - Human Resources Columbus, OH 2011 – 2014
Provided comprehensive human resource services for an international not-for-profit with
approximately 110 employees. Partnered with and provided strategic advice to all department
heads. Developed corporate policies, created departmental procedures, ensured compliance
with all state and federal laws and regulations, created a system to track and monitor EEO/AAP
programs, recruited, managed applications, conducted new employee orientation and on-
boarding, managed FMLA leave, employee relations, and conducted exit interviews. Partnered
with insurance agent to negotiate for the best rates for benefits. Established online interfaces
with all benefits providers to deliver a higher level of customer service. Administered all
benefits programs on a daily basis. Developed a new Employee Handbook and then provided
updates as need. Initiated and maintained the organization’s E-Verify account. Provided a

Brunswick, OH 2000 - 2004
Provided comprehensive human resource services to trucking company with approximately 35
employees. Recruited, hired, trained, supervised, and conducted annual performance
counseling with all employees. Maintained Department Of Transportation compliance records
for all employees in safety sensitive positions as well as managed the company’s random drug
testing program. Managed the company’s Employee of the Month program. Administered all
benefits programs and managed the company’s Workers Compensation claims.
Frequently assisted in the dispatch office by directing drivers to their next pick-up, receiving
orders from contracted customers, and negotiating shipping rates with brokerage services.
Additionally, assigned as the company’s Safety Officer and managed the company’s accident
avoidance program. Developed the proposal to purchase new technology which improved the
communication between the dispatch office and the truck drivers. As a result, the company

several organizations as a full-time officer within the Ohio Army National Guard.
Logistician – 371st Sustainment Brigade (May 06 – Dec 07 and Jul 09 – Jan 11)
Managed the day to day logistical operations to over 1,800 employees and to over 900 pieces of
equipment at 13 different locations across the State of Ohio. Created a Standard Operating
Procedure for the organization’s supply chain, resulting in improved efficiencies in
communication up and down the supply chain. Managed a full-time logistical staff of 32
personnel and an additional 17 part-time personnel. Purchased goods and service with an
employer credit card with a $10,000 monthly limit and managed a $900,000 budget in Fiscal
Year 2010.

Improved the Operational Supply rate of subordinate units by over 45%
during the U.S. Army’s transformation to modular units

Operations Manager – 371st Sustainment Brigade (Dec 07 – Jul 09)
Ensured that the 1,800 Soldiers in the Brigade were trained and qualified to perform the jobs
that they were assigned to do. Ensured that subordinate units were executing training plans
that met the intent and vision of the Brigade Commander. Directly and indirectly managed a
full-time operations staff of 36 personnel and an additional 33 part-time personnel. Managed a
$500,000 budget in Fiscal Year 2009.
Key Achievements:
Reduced the number of Soldiers that were not scheduled for training by 65%
which caused the job qualification rate to improve by over 5% while the number of
assigned Soldiers increase by over 200 personnel
Deployed over 800 Soldiers to Louisiana for a humanitarian response to Hurricane
Gustov with less than 72-hours notice
Training Manager – 1-107th Cavalry (Mar 04 – May 06)
Ensured that the 750 Soldiers in the Battalion were trained and qualified to perform their
assigned jobs. Developed near term (1-3 months), short term (3-12 months), and long range
(1-3 years) operation plans. Managed a full-time operations staff of 15. Simultaneously
assigned as a company commander of a unit that had 250 Soldiers divided into 8 subordinate
elements. Fully accountable for the health, welfare, professional development and mission
accomplishment of all the unit’s personnel.
Key Achievements:
Developed systems to track Soldiers who were not trained in the job they were
assigned and improved this metric by 35%.
Improved equipment readiness by 28% by taking advantage of a lull in training
due to non-standard deployments.
