Senior IT Manager, Developer, and Information Technology Solution Consultant
I have over 15 years of experience in Information Technology, Consulting, Applications Development and people
management. With several years working for GTE Internetworking, Adobe Systems, and currently Marshall
University, I have applicable experience in several different industries. Additionally, while providing consulting
services during my time with Adobe Systems, I gained experience working directly with high profile named accounts
both remotely and on location with the customer. I believe my experience, work ethic, attention to detail and desire to
provide the best possible solutions would be an asset to any organization.
Experience
Director, Enterprise Applications, Marshall University – Huntington, WV 2008 Present
In my role as Director of Enterprise Applications, I have a staff of between 6 10 direct reports handling all internal
application development, systems integration, and management of the online learning management system at
Marshall University's main Huntington campus, as well as all satellite campuses.
This role is a working manager role, and I am heavily involved in the design, development and testing of many of the
solutions that I oversee. Some examples of projects that I am responsible for in this role include:
Development and execution of the campus mobile strategy, including providing responsive website
•
templates (HTML and via a Wordpress based CMS), as well as the development and management of the
various iOS and Android mobile applications provided to students.
Integration of internal applications and vendor provided applications with the campus single sign on
•
initiative, achieved through integrating Active Directory with CAS, and subsequently CASifying applications
to use this authentication source. This allows Marshall University to provide faculty/staff and students with a
single set of credentials that provide access to most campus services.
Management of the campus SharePoint environment. In addition to installation and configuration of
•
SharePoint, I have developed and delivered user training, and individually upgraded the campus installation
and associated content databases from SharePoint 2003 >SharePoint 2007, again from SharePoint 2007
>SharePoint 2010, and finally from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 earlier this year.
Management of public facing servers. These servers include the campus web server, student portal, and
•
various application servers. These servers exist in a primarily Windows/Active Directory environment, with
my direct responsibility including (at various times) servers running Windows 2003, Windows 2008 R2,
Windows 2012, IIS (versions 5 through 8), SMTP services, PHP, Adobe ColdFusion, CampusEAI
myCampus, Apache Tomcat, WordPress in a multisite environment, and other associated technologies.
Management of the campus online learning management system. The Learning Management System
•
(LMS) provides students with the ability to participate in full credit courses entirely online through the use of
3
Blackboard Learn 9 in various versions/configurations, from 9.1 through 9.1 SP14. In addition to managing
the integration between Blackboard Learn and the Banner based student SIS, I have also integrated
Blackboard Learn with the CAS single sign on system, and development custom solution enhancements to
ease the use of the LMS for both students and faculty.
Developed the current campus content management system, based on WordPress configured as a network
•
installation in a multi site environment. This custom content management system services over 400
individual department and campus group sites, and provides an easy way to deliver a consistent user
experience from department to department while allowing different content editors with varying skill level the
ability to edit web pages.
Manager, North American Field Support – Adobe Systems, Inc. – San Jose, CA 2000 2008
Served for over three years as Principal Adobe ColdFusion consultant working with over 30 named accounts

in support of various applications. Provided code review, infrastructure advice and support, and technical
troubleshooting for major accounts like Fidelity Investments, the National Institute of Health, Scholastic
Publishing, the Social Security Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Mayo Clinic.
Managed between 15 25 senior technical support engineers placed both locally and remotely, and provided
•
escalation support for technical issues they encountered with their customers.
Developed the initial program deliverables, marketing collateral and pricing structures for what evolved in to
•
Adobe Systems North American Technical Account Manager program – a program the eventually replaced
the named account consulting program I was previously a part of.
Delivered on site visits to customers to assist with implementation and rollout of applications, or installation
•
and configuration of Adobe Systems server software.
In addition to my role as North American Field Support manager, I continued to provide tier 3 custom
