MASTER’s THESIS PROJECT

“Aerodynamic Design and Economic Analysis of a Darrieus Straight Bladed VAWT”

The design of a straight blade profile aiming the 1 kW power output for a small scale vertical axis

wind turbine is carried out by using CATIA V5 modeling software and it is critically evaluated for the

failure, by finite element method (FEM) using ANSYS14.0 software. The economical feasibility of the

designed VAWT is finally integrated in the design procedure to predict annual production of electricity.
